Think about what he accomplished. He has legendary status in the hearts of men for his roles in Roadhouse and Red Dawn and The Outsiders, but he was also a star in two of the biggest chick flicks of all time, Ghost and Dirty Dancing. Not too many actors have really accomplished that at the level that he did.

Yep, Road House has been broadcast way too many times and it's practically a cliche, but you must admit, the first time you saw it, you told yourself "that d00d is one of the baddest-a$$es I've ever seen in a movie."
Great American actor. Super popular body of work. RIP.

Dance on and fight on, Patrick. Thanks for the wonderful times.

Put down the damn cigarettes kids!
They don't guarantee you'll get cancer but they will certainly shorten your life.:(
I didn't realize he was pushing 60. I recall him being on The Tonight Show many many years ago and he said when he was in high school in Texas he played linebacker. What else would he play?:)

Somewhere.....Patrick Swayze and Chris Farley are doing the Chippendale's dances side by side once again. I hope this is one of the first few things I see when I get there.

is pancreatic cancer caused by cigarettes?
Yes it can be. And it's one of the least treatable. Golfing buddy of mine had it and lasted 9 weeks after diagnosis.

First movie I saw him in was the Outsiders.
That movie had ALOT of future stars in it that weren't big stars at the time. Tom Cruise, Patrick Swayze, Emilio Estevez, Ralph Maccio, Rob Lowe, etc etc...

Patrick Swayze could sing as well...
"She's Like The Wind"
He did drink long ago after his father died (at age 57) and had recurring issues with drinking which could have played a role.
Nonetheless....great actor and gone so soon.

Yea, it is virtually untreatable...read somewhere that 5 years is if you are lucky, 1-2 years most likely, sometimes far less

is pancreatic cancer caused by cigarettes?
There seems to be a link, among other things. One known risk factor for pancreatic cancer is chronic pancreatitis. At least in that condition, the addition of cigarette smoking is known to increase one's risk of pancreatic cancer. Whether smoking is a risk factor in an otherwise undiseased pancreas is not so clear.
