This is probably the best news that way we will get GREAT blocking at the TE position with Brody..Sorry Trent Rateree and James Hanna just aren't on his level at all... and WTH happened to E. Mensik???

Rattateree is ahead of him on the depth chart.

Rattateree is ahead of him on the depth chart.

Maybe...but they always seemed to put Brody in at different times and move him around if I remember right. He was a kind of sneak attack when they were keying on Gresham in the EZ.

You were saying that Ratterree was ahead of Brody on the depth chart I thought.

I have a feeling much of this is motivated by Ratteree's need to improve his blocking. If you look at the replay of the Broyles fumble, the guy who knocked the ball loose got free on a missed block by Ratteree.

No I meant Rat was ahead of Mensik. Rat is probably a better receiver than Brody, but Brody will be no doubt the first tight end.

You guys want to hear an interesting stat? Brody had 15 pancake blocks against BYU.

So you're saying the OL's problem was NOT Brody. ;)

Brody is a great athlete, no doubt, but slapping him in center on short might've been a stretch. Seems with all that MeerKat offense and all that commotion, it could've played heck with his snap count. I wonder if he was snapping it after the line fired off on the count and that caused some of the penalties.

Glad Brody will be back to tight end. That should help with blitz pickups and seal the ends for run plays without holding.

Brody is a good player, sounds like Haber back at C, Good at rg, and JJ at RT. What we thought originally, right?

So did the coaching staff put any thought into the O-line depth chart before the season? I think most teams do that.

In the coporate world we call that a "best practice."

You folks should listen to BYU DC Jaime Hill's interview on youtube. I had previously posted here asking if any of you were concerned about starting Eldridge at center, and people responded that he is the best blocker in the world (which I would not dispute). However, our DC specifically mentioned that BYU felt that OU might be more vulnerable because the protection calls were being made by a TE.

Ben Criddle (a radio personality and former BYU DB who conducted this interview) also wrote about Eldridge prior to the game. In fact, he considered the fact that Brody Eldridge was starting at center to be a key to the game:

My point being that unlike a few times in the past, they seem willing to make the changes now rather than waiting for a bye week or the following season! lol
