Did we fall out of the top 25?

I'd say irrelevant at this point. The play of the team has to improve closer to its potential to gauge a true ranking.

14 would be my guess. The voters want to punish us.

As far as long term rating is concerned, we can be forgiven for this loss. The rule is you have to loose early (check), better if it is to ranked team (check), and better if on the road or neutral field (check). More credit if you had key players hurt at the time (again, check). And maybe most important of all - improve on the things that hurt you in that game. That one goes without saying because if the O-line doesn't improve drastically, there are more losses to come and rankings will not really be that important any more.

if some how we end up at 8, the football media and coaches think we are still a good team

would be nice to stay top 10

but 12 aint bad

I wouldn't think so with such a poor, mistake ridden offensive showing. Bradford aside, OU sucked offensively. If OU does stay in the top 10, it's purely by the play of the defense, which was very respectable except the last TD.

I think 15 is probably where we fall...

I feel beholden to point something out -- everyone seems to feel that it's good if BYU wins out. Maybe. In most cases. But there's one instance where that'd be a bad thing.

If BYU wins out, and we win out, they'll get picked ahead of us for whatever dance card is available -- because, after all, they have 'head to head', and voters will want to "fix" the head-to-head injustice from last season.

If they win out, we need to hope our two teams aren't being considered in the same breath. Or we'll be on the short end of things.

I don't know about Boise but I can see a scenario that favors BYU.

Take it just a bit further. If OU and BYU win out, BYU will be undefeated and OU will have one loss... to BYU. No way in hell the voters will let us go ahead of BYU. This is not like last year's OU and Texas argument where we both had one loss. We want BYU to do well enough to stay ranked but we also want them to lose as least one, MAYBE two games. That or hope for a rematch...

To respond to the original post. I already heard a lot on the national radio today that sounded like the national media was already explaining away and trying to forgive the loss. They all acknowledged that while it was OU's line that caused the loss, they thought that Bradford was certainly worth two points a half and that was before you get to Gresham. These guys come back and the o-line gets it together and the offense starts looking anything remotely similar to last year and OU will start rocketing up the rankings regardless of where we end up this week.

All the way to 15? I can't see that happening... no lower than 12. I promise you we'll still be above BYU(and it will make them mad). Ole Miss shouldn't be above the Pokes a ranked Georgia team vs. a nowhere near the top 25 Memphis team (that Ole Miss struggled w/ till the late 3rd quarter). If I'm wrong I'll owe you one.

To go undefeated BYU will have to beat fla st, col st, and utah, which is their 3 toughest games left. It will be interesting to see how they fare out. I say they lose 2 of those games.

Exactly how I'm seeing it and its happened before. Not w/ us and BYU but still. They'll still put in all the factors like Sam being hurt and not playing the rest of the game. :(

I don't know that we stay at 12, when you consider Boise and BYU both beat ranked teams.

I agree, the Pokes should be higher, but the coachs/media won't leap frog them in week 1.

Probably 15-20. We need some strong wins to get back to top 10.
