You'd think with all the money that T-Bone Nose Pickens has he could buy more fans for them. But I guess forcing them to go to Stoolwater is something even a billionaire can't do.

I disagree, I view it as a statement about the strength of OU fans and its fan base...STRONG !!!!

Seriously? An opponent with a huge following like Georgia, and they couldn't sell that re-upholstered toilet out because of their insane ST policy? Get ready for some half-empty stadium shots on TV the next three weekends (assuming they'll BE on TV, that is).

You are assuming I took the time to interpret your irony.

The official attendance at our game was announced at just over 75K, of which, about 25% appeared to be BYU fans.

Unfortunately, I was in Stillwater this last Saturday. I'll pull a quote from a Barry Switzer locker room speech following what I think was a tie to usc, "hold your head up high, men. you've got nothing to be ashamed of". While I'd say about 2/3rds of the orange aggie fans are solid, decent people, that other third stood out like a bitter, angry, sore thumb with one hell of an inferiority complex. A buddy of mine had tickets as he's an UGA grad, so given that I didn't have tickets for Jerry-World I took him up on it.
While in Stillwater I was challenged to two fights, one of which the guy wasn't playing. At all. In fact, Eskimo Joe's security had to escort him off the property. Aside from that, it was a constant barrage of what you would expect. My favorite was, "what, you couldn't afford to go to Dallas?" My response, though it doesn't work as well after that evening, was "I'm saving up for Pasadena. I'll send you a post card". As for the game itself, it might have looked fairly full on tv. In reality, there were a ton of empty seats. I didn't see any scalpers. It was less than loud. I left that back-water town thinking of the opinion that UGA fans must have of Oklahoma as a state. It was almost as depressing as the game in Dallas.

I for one am not going to be bagging on Okie State, they won, we didn't, and they looked like a better football team. Sad to say, but those are the facts.

I still think we'll be the better team by the time we meet them later. ;)

Some OU fans bought some of BYU's tickets.

Watched the OSU game on TV and they announced that there were plenty of scalpers who were selling tickets for $25.00 over face value. They also said that OSU stated that their season ticket policy is working since they have sold more season tickets this year then in the history of OSU. Of course we had to listen to how great their new facility is and all that stuff about how great T. B. P. is gor giving them $165 million for everything.:D :D

The seats we were in were bought by Cowboys season ticket holders (A&M grads), so they were not bought through the school, that skewed the "counts" for the OU tickets. I would bet most of the Cowboys season ticket holder seats that were bought through the Cowboys ended up in Sooner hands.

so, while they continue to play for 3rd and 4th place in the big XII south and the newness of the new barn wears off, they will again have a less than half empty stadium?

It's entirely possible that I just didn't notice the scalpers because I wasn't looking for them. But, the main point of what I was trying to say is that, despite the loss, OU fans should be proud of the way that they/we conduct ourselves. I've been to a number of different stadiums and campuses, for OU games and otherwise. Always wearing OU gear. I'm used to getting questions about why I'm there or maybe a good natured dig. But, ok state was a new one for me. I've never been treated like that before. In Columbus, South Bend, Dallas, Miami, Pasadena, and everywhere else the other fans were mostly cool. Shockingly, the ND fans were among the best. I always try to be cool with the other team's fans (less so to texas, but still have to try and pull some effort). I'll say that there were two or three ok state fans that were pretty cool, even as I was watching OU game. But, after having guys trying to fight me, with fists and not just jawing, and later that night seeing guys cheering, CHEERING, when they watched Bradford go down with the injury...I've lost a ton of respect for ok state's fans. Not like I had a ton to begin with, but that's pretty much gone.

...Shockingly, the ND fans were among the best....Heh, they PWN OU! We are 1-9 or whatever with those guys, and never seem to play them when they are bad or mediocre!

BTW, orange aggy needs to lose a lot of games, even before we play them, IMO.

Good points. It's easier to be nice when you've got scoreboard. I'm torn on whether or not I want okstate to lose every game for the next decade or if I want them to win out and get their face kicked in by the Sooners. Unlikely as it might be right now, say OU wins out via an o-line that got it's stuff together and a dominant ground game. We're going to need a game like that towards the end of the year to even begin to try and argue for a BCS spot. Needles to say, we're going to need Nebraska and texas to do really well, aside from when they play OU, also. For the record, the worst fans list goes as follows and in no particular order:
Ok State, Southern Cal (via the bush-push ND game. ND fans were all class, usc fans were what you would expect), 'Cuse, texas, Colorado.

Well said -- I agree completely. I know it's cool to rag on your in-state rival, but give them credit (they beat their Top-20 opponent).

I still think we'll take them by 21 when we play in late November. BOOMER!

TV said that OU had 45,000 and BYU had 15,000 tickets for the game.

Is it fair to say we had over 46,000 all told?

In other words we brought more to watch a non-conference game than we're allowed to bring to OU-texas. That there is grist for the jefes :texan: that want to move the RRS to Jerry World. What a revoltin' development.:(

(BTW, did you notice the Fletcher's Corny Dog stand? :D Do you think somebody wants to prime the pump to move our game?)

After experiencing their big, new stadium, I agree it's a big, new stadium, and I want the RRS to stay in the Cotton Bowl.

Our tickets came from Cowboys season ticket holders.

They had Fletcher's stands at Texas Stadium last year, that was our Thanksgiving meal....

We were in the BYU section as we were shut out in first round of tics. I was able to buy in the two hour window the day after tics went on sale, which I'm sure were BYU returns. That said, I can tell you there were plenty of OU fans in sections 217, 218, 219 etc & we represented. All in all, the BYU fans were gracious in their win & knew they had a gift when #14 didn't come out in pads 2nd half. Not sure how they'll feel when rankings come out though. Good thing is not as much pressure for Dallas Part II in Oct.
