WOW, very nice.

Driving into the place was very easy, I thought it would be backed up for ever. We arrived about 2 pm and drove right in without a problem. Leaving well that was another story. seemed like all the paring areas all had the same way out.

Inside. We were section 413 about he 40 yards line. The player looked like ants, but the TV was unreal..Oh, and I think it is high enough.

What I missed,
1. score board with stats
2. more college updates from around the country
3. could not hear the band at all
4. it may have just been me after being outside before the game , but it was hot as hell up there.

Other than that I was impressed.

what did you think?

1) pre game tailgating: Lots of room to park, (although pricy) be it tail gating, RV or simply parking. Also plenty of open sidewalks to the stadium

2) JerryWorld itself: one word......big

3) inside JerryWorld: wide concourses, very friendly staff

4) sound system/PA/acoustics: it maybe loud on the field, but I rarely could hear the PA or even the PRIDE during their pregame. Not sure why, but sound doesn't travel well inside the stadium

5) big screen: really didnt deter from the game day experience. its huge and nice for replays, but I didnt find myself watching it instead of the live game.

6) score boards: almost non existent, there is plenty of area where basic scoreboard stats could be placed but for some reason, they are not. even the 25 second clock was hard to find.

over all it is a great venue to watch a game, and with a few tweaks could be even better.

I dont wanna give the coaches an excuse but this may be the reason the coaches didnt call a timeout when we were on the goaline with the play clock running out

Sounds like a good point to me.

Anyone who was there?

Old Dallas Stadium had the clock right there where you could see it.

Anyone see any distractions like that?

once you found the 25 second clock it was a non issue. so to answer the question, no that would not be an excuse for the delay penalty.

i was speaking from a fans observation's point of view

Senior Chris Brown had the play clock staring him straight in the face. Call a timeout, Captain.

to me it felt like a giant basketball arena, i don't know why. However, i liked it. You can go broke pretty fast.

Yeah, the staduim is huge, it is beautiful, and the screens are impressive. Other than that, I was not overly impressed. The sound system was horrible, the acoustics were worse, and the lack of info about the game on the vitually non-existant scoreboards was frustrating. It is nice, but if not for those video screens, it would be just another NFL stadium. Much hype about nothing.

I did notice the monitors around the outside by the restrooms and concession stands seemed to be more for advertising instead of showing what was going on the field

Same. But we happened to miss the Rangers ballpark entrance and went a mile further west. Best mistake I ever made. Parked about three blocks to the west of the stadium in a private lot. Got in quick before the game, and decided to take the same strategy leaving the game...got out very quick too.

My biggest peeve is I couldn't hear the Pride either. :(

The only time I heard "Boomer Sooner" is when they played it on the sound system.

There was an article in Sunday's Morning News about how acoustics really s*ck in the stadium, but is great for noice for football. Seems the noise bounces off the glass on both ends of the stadium.

Also seems like there should have been more bathrooms. I've never had to wait in line at Reliant or Minute Maid, even with a packed house.

Also, $16 for a plain hot dog and a Pepsi was expected, but I would have at least thought I could get chili and cheese with the dog.

Big and nice, but seemed like on overgrown arena to me as well...maybe it was the carpet. Being in the architecture biz it is always interesting to go see new buildings.

The scoreboard info was pathetic, not every square inch of electronic board space needs to be used for advertising, you can give some of that space up for info, I don't need 30,000 lineal feet of board space to know that AT&T is the official telecommunications provider of the Dallas Cowboys, everyone is going to be able to see that even is some space is used for providing useful info. Speaking of that, cell service in and around the arena was horrible and I have AT&T service. No data service at all and all calls never came though, I just got messages. We were trying to meet up with the person who had my tickets and resorted to sending text messages back and forth and it usually took a few times to send those through.

Down in our seats it was hot, not outdoors hot but hot nonetheless, my wife thought it was fine. It felt great when we walked in from outside but after everyone piled in it got warm. My dad and uncle were sitting in 447 and had an A/C vent blowing on them, he said I would have lived that.

Getting in was easy (Lot 11), we got there early and at the Bone Fish place across Collins, packed with Sooner fans it was pretty good eats. Getting out was a different story we finally wound our way out of there. We stopped at the Ihop at Plano Parkway near Preston on the way back to my uncles house, there were quite a few fellow Sooners in there and one BYU group showed up.

Here are some pics that my wife took...first the outside

One with my wife and people in it to give a sense of scale.
That is a Dallas Cowboys shirt that she is wearing (Tech grad), she didn't realize BYU had similar colors.

It was a unusal game day experience and a much easier drive for Houston fans than Norman. But it didn't feel like the game day experience. I'll take Memorial Field any day!
