Truthfully, it really hurts. Since the moment Bradford and them all said they were coming back, I was just so pumped for the season to begin. Then this happened, and I'm almost heartbroken. :(

In all seriousness though, some observations.

1). The Offensive line

WOW. It's like everyone outside Oklahoma knew our o-line would be a problem. Yet all the news from OU was we'd be fine. Honestly, those flags killed us. We had what? 2 false starts in a ROW to start the opening drive of the game? And it was that same #70. Like others said, I'd hate to see him on field again.

But realistically, they're all mostly first time starters. So I'm HOPING these next to "easier" opponents in Idaho State and Tulsa can help them get settled in. I don't want to see Sam writhing around in pain again. Which leads me to point #2.

2). Sam Bradford

Seriously, when I saw the poor guy rolling around on the field in pain, I kind of wished he hadn't come back. For his sake. Imagine if this becomes more serious then they first thought, and it has some lasting impacts. OR WORSE. He comes back, and o-line let's him take a WORSE shot.

Sam is a great kid. He turned down opportunity to be a top 5 or top 10 draft pick in the NFL to come back to school. That showed passion. That showed a love of the game and not just a love of the money. I'd HATE to see something bad happen to a kid like this.

I will almost come out and GUARANTEE Sam won't be back next year, if he's still considered to be a top 10 pick. You can be sure that injury from tonight will be in the back of his mind. He deserves to get his shot in the NFL.

3). The Defense

Sure, we let over 300 yards passing. But we kept them out of the endzone. Only allowed 14 pts. And 99% of the time, with OU 14 pts will be MORE than enough for us to get a W.

Anyways, I was thoroughly impressed by McCoy. And a STRONG showing by Ryan Reynolds. Great to see that for the guy. INT and some nice stops on key plays. Same with Travis Lewis. Our corners came up good for most part too. I'm excited for this D.

4). The Play-Calls

You all know I'm a big time Bob Stoops supporter. But I don't know guys, I seriously am confused on this 54 yd fg try. OH, and remember, the fg would have been only 49 yds if we didn't have a false start from, yup, #70. oh man.... oh man...

but yeah, I think it would have been a good experience for Landry, and ****, Tres Way is a freshman. His longest kick in his LIFE is a 47 yarder. And you want his first FG kick of his college career to be a 54 yd GW kick? I don't know.

Even a lot of plays from the title game were really suspect.

Why can't we win these type of games? ARGHH

Overall, I'm upset. But realistically, it's the first game of the year. I still have a strong belief that if we run the table and capture a big 12 title we will be in the title game at the end. It's always best to lose early. And by that time, nobody will remember anything from the BYU loss EXCEPT that we didn't have Sam Bradford for the second half.

But anyways. I'm hitting the sack. BOOMER!

Yeah, seeing Sam and Gresham on the sidelines in street clothes was very disturbing. On the bright side Gerald was a monster.

True man. Wish the best for Gresham and Sam. Two great guys from what I hear. Don't let them be punished for putting the love of the game above money.

can't even fathom thinking about the national championship right now. maybe after the texas game if our o-line suddenly becomes a tear and we start racking up the wins.

the first thing my friend said after Sam went down was," He should have drafted".
I still disagree. I think he has a genuine love for the game that exceeds money. Also, he knew that another year would prepare him even more for Sundays.

The pass defense is terrible yet again. They allowed more than 300 yards from an average QB. They allowed a 16 play drive for the winning TD late in the game. They made another average TE look like an All American. Their only bright spot was McCoy. Thank you Vulnerables, for your epic mediocrity.

I don't feel bad for myself, I feel bad for the coaches and the players, especially Sam. I lost a little bit of sleep over them losing last night - the coaches and players lost so much more, and Sam lost a lot by coming back to OU unselfishly.

One of the good things out of all this:

I have Landry Jones on my facebook. And after the game he had about 30+ comments from Sooner fans offering him support and congratulating him on a good effort.

That's at least good to see

Stoops said that he was hitting from 53 yards in pregame warmups.

I thought it was a mistake too but it was Bob's call.

I would have liked to have seen Landry take a shot at a first too.

Yeah man. Even if he's hitting 53 in pre-game warm-ups. It's different atmosphere with game on the line. I would have had more faith in it had he kicked the fgs that Jimmy Stevens kicked earlier in the game.

Then it wouldn't be his first attempt of his college career, you know?

I understand what your saying. If you looked at Tress you could see that he was pumped up for it and didn't look nervous at all. If I was the coach and I saw one of my kickers hitting from that far then I would have done the same thing. If we had Sam then we probably would have went for it.

That's true. I'm just still upset about that 3rd and 1 call. We have Chris Brown and DeMarco Murray. I forget what we did the first 2 plays? I know one play was that play-action. Should have been Chris Brown or Demarco murray up the middle 4 times.

I know one of the times we through it to the right cone of the endzone and a tight end, or fullback dropped it.

To me it looked like most of Landry's passes were really good, but they just weren't caught. He went 6 for 12 and most of those were on the wide receivers.

I think you're talking about the play-action to Clapp? In all honesty, that was probably one of his not so great throws man. He threw it behind Clapp, therefore allowing defender to get a hand on it. Had he led Clapp with the ball, ONLY clapp could get a hand on it and it would have been 6. But i mean, it was a tough throw for him. So no worries. He'll learn.

Yeah man. I was impressed on the sideline pass on the first 3rd down. then the roll out for our second first down. I see a lot of good things from him. And yeah, a lot of drops too.

Yup. I believe the first two passes to #80 (tennel I believe), were catchable passes that were dropped
