I'm reading "South of Broad" by my fellow Citadel alum Pat Conroy.

In describing his protagonist's mother, he writes in first person; "Mother was stern. She completely lacked a sense of humor. In fact, my brother and I believed she could watch the Pope trade arm-farts in the Sistine Chapel with seven cardinals without so much as cracking a smile."

That's funny right there. And it communicates the point.

Everybody knows the Pope has his own Gold Plated Fart Machine though.
