What are your thoughts on OU running the wildcat? I've heard a few times from the coaches and sites that we will run it this year.

IMHO it doesn't make too much sense not to snap it to a Heisman Trophy winner.

IMHO it could be really effective in certain situations, especially with options such as Murray/Brown/Madu/Calhoun/Broyles.

IMHO I can't decide whether to like it or not.

I think the fact that we have a Heisman QB would only add to the effectiveness since the defense wouldn't expect it.

I would not mind the horsepigs being wild, because then it would mean that they're somewhere else and not caged in the Schooner.

that's how i remember it. i can't remember the game though, seems it was pretty late in the season at home knocking on the South end zone, then he got hurt in Lubbock and we didn't see him again til last year

hopefully he won't be on KO teams and can stay healthy this year

so what's your opinion about it?

Honestly... Percy Harvin thrived in the wildcat last year against our defense. I see no problem with mixing things up. It gives opponents one more thing to study and be ready for.

I think you get the ball in our playmakers hands as much as possible. Whether it's via handoff, pass, or direct snap.

The "wild whatever" is an attempt to get your best players on the field at the same time. It's a glaring condemnation in the ability of the QB if he is not considered one of your best players. The SOONERS do not have that problem and I highly doubt we will see a wild-Sooner or wild-horespig.

We did run a wild-Sooner from game 4 of 1970 until around 1989 - it was called the Wishbone.

I don't think running the wildcat or anything of the like is anything against Sam or anyone else.

It's partly been due to our arrogance to avoid doing "tricked up" stuff like this that has made our recent bowl record what it is, because our opponents have not shown such reluctance to do some of these things.

Why not have Bradford checking off at the line all Peyton Manning like, and while it appears he's communicating with a tackle, hike the ball to Murray who takes off for a 20 yard gain.

If we do the wildcat I say we bring it out in the Idaho St. game, and trickle it in later on during the season... I just honestly think it may give us a little more of an edge but when you have a team as stacked as ours you really dont have to trick the defense

I'm just gonna let the Percy Harvey comment slip as you obviously are just trying to prove you know something about football to obtain the elusive SF.com Street Cred. :D

Thing is this....Since Bob Stoops has been Coach...how many plays like that have you seen him try?

I'm not sure what the percentage of successful plays like that are...but I just having watched every game since he's been here...I'm leaning toward less then 50%.

Given those percentages are in the ballpark...I'd answer your original question with...FAT CHANCE. Bob likes putting in good plays and schooling his opponent. He likes putting up numbers for players who might be in the running for another Heisman also.

You should have stopped your original post here...and then never posted again IMO...

I, like any of you would, did not appreciate being told never to post again after posting no personal attacks at anyone. Which caused me to post a personal attack :O.

I'm a junior now at OU, and have been to every home game since the first game of 2000. So I definitely know my Bob Stoops era football and have never claimed expertise outside of that. I grew up in Norman and am the biggest OU fan I know. I appreciate having a board like this to let loose every once in awhile and talk about OU.

I meant no disrespect to anyone and if I n00b up again let me know. But I'd appreciate it not involving words like wanting me to never post here again.
