Many teams are preparing for the Sept. 1 roster trim (75 players max) and then the epic fallout on Sept. 5 (53 players max) already.

Please post any notables that get cut, Sooner or not.

I hope to see the Chiefs dropping booger!http://i2.cdn.turner.com/si/2008/writers/gene_menez/09/15/heisman.watch/p1.daniel.jpg

Not cut, but Dusty is out for the year with a torn ACL:(

Maybe we could hope that he would be cut by the Redskins, picked up by the Chiefs, and then cut again.

Ive actually heard that he has outplayed Colt Brennan for the 3rd spot, we will see...

Ya he threw 2 td's last week against the steelers. One of them was a "close your eyes and let it fly" type of pass the other was decent. But seeing him get taken out is still fun.

SoonerLB

Brennan played last night, had good and bad moments, but it both looked and sounded (from announcer comments anyway) as if he had the lead for that third spot. Booger never got in the game, so it would probably be a good idea for him to get a head start on packing his bags.

I noticed that Booger Daniels didn't play yesterday either - just stood on the sidelines looking like a little pouty boy with his backwards yellow cap (just like at Mizzou, heh).

Maybe Jessica Simpson knows something we don't... My wife told me a couple of nights ago that she is hooking up with Brennan. He prob told her he has a hut in Hawaii that over looks the Empire State Building.

I assume most on here know that J.D. got cut from the Bengals already....

badger

Sooners that have already been cut since ESPN.com last updated their "NFL players by college" listings include...

Rufus Alexander was cut by the Vikings last year, but signed by the Lions Thursday (http://www.prideofdetroit.com/2009/8/28/1005754/friday-notes-culpepper-to-start). We'll see if he makes it past Sept. 1.

Eric Bassey was waived by the Rams Aug. 10.

Mark Bradley is on the verge of being cut from the Chiefs (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/playerbreakingnews.asp?sport=NFL&id=3184&line=149312&spln=1), but is still on the roster as of right now.

As we all should know by now Dusty Dvoracek has a torn ACL and will miss the 2009 season (http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/nfl/news/story?id=4429549)... which was supposed to be his contract season. Might get cut after ending the past several seasons on IR.

J.D. Runnels was cut by the Bengals on Aug. 11.

Travis Wilson was cut by the Cowboys in July.

Please add or correct the list as it gets updated.

Good news, folks - the 49ers got their rosters in early and there were no Sooners. (http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2009/08/31/SPTB19G4F1.DTL)

The Seahawks (http://12thmanrising.com/2009/08/31/seahawks-trim-roster-to-75/) and the Falcons (http://www.ajc.com/sports/atlanta-falcons/falcons-make-first-roster-127249.html) also trimmed nobody of note here.

Sooners also survived the Redskins reported cut. (http://www.examiner.com/x-450-Washington-Redskins-Examiner~y2009m8d30-Redskins-cut-five)

Nothing else really reported yet. Stay tuned...

psssst badg......

you nervous? ;)

da bares looked tough last night....would have loved to see cutler make the good throw to iggy....

badger
8/31/2009, 10:58 AM
The only ones I'm nervous for right now are...

(a) Sooner alums at risk of getting cut.
(b) The teams involved in MNF tonight.

I am not nervous for the Packers. They haven't broadcast any games live down here, but they've been solid in the preseason (and da bears QB still sucks, regardless of what his name is). Too bad Iggy can't have a QB like Sammie throw to him, eh?

As for MNF, the Vikes are playing, so your Sooner fans should have plenty to watch. I will of course be watching for another reason... my Texans fan husband, of course! :D

 not really.

D U D E !!!! seriously?!?!? compared to what we have had over the last 10-15 years the guys is practically johnny friggin heisman lol... ya GOTTA give me that. i know we are in week -1 but jeez. we look better as an offensive unit than we have in a loooong while.

I am not going to give you anything until the regular season starts and lo and behold, it starts with my team and your team... which means that I am not going to give you anything until at least week 2 :D

The Broncos went downhill not after Elway left... but after Q left.

I hate that we have so many dern aggies and whorns on the roster

If any Sooners get released, I will be sending as many thoughts as possible to Pat Bolen telling him to pick them up!

Yeah if the Broncos would have just kept "Q"...they would have gone to the Super Bowl. :pop:

Oh, I totally agree on the Super Bowl and Q thing... they made a baaaad move by letter the tripod go.

Oh, and today is the day, and the time is 3 p.m., which happens to be when my shift ends.

If you have a moment, send good vibes toward the Sooner alums today!

On a sad note, Dusty D's injury-plagued tenure with the Chicago Bears ended yesterday. (http://blogs.suntimes.com/bears/2009/08/bears_makes_first_cuts_to_get.html)

A certain Woods brother named D'Jean got cut from the Saints. (http://twitter.com/FletcherMackel)

I am constantly checking the news wire for anything new on this. The extremely fallout will happen after today, when the teams need to cut 22 more players to make the 53-man roster limit by Saturday.

Practice squads are finalized Sunday usually... of course, as we learned with poor ENA, that can change during the season :(

On a positive note, Brandon Braxton has been given another NFL shot with the Browns.

The article (http://www.tribtoday.com/page/content.detail/id/526739.html?nav=5024) calls our coach Bobby Stoops. Silly Ohioans. :P

I didn't see this earlier, but for those of you who remember Paul Smith, the Tulsa quarterback that looked extremely good against us (and against everyone else) a few years back, was cut by the Jags on Sunday.

Link. (http://jac.scout.com/2/893994.html)

The cutting reports are flying into NFL.com today. So far, no Sooners other than Dusty on the list.

badger
9/2/2009, 07:29 AM
There were no Sooners cut yesterday, the day that all teams needed that have their rosters down to 75 (Dusty was cut two days ago)

You can check the complete cutting/signing/IR-placing list at NFL.com here. (http://www.nfl.com/transactions)

Even though Brennan was put on IR today, Daniel will be cut. 'Skins do not plan to sign him to the practice squad. This per espn.

Corey Ivy (Browns)
Donte Nicholson (Bucs)
Manny Johnson (Cowboys)
OSU's Donovon Woods (Steelers)
Joe Jon Finley (49ers)

all were released today

badger
9/6/2009, 08:39 AM
Allen Patrick and Rhett Bomar (Giants)
Rufus Alexander (Lions)
Marcus Walker and USC alum John David Booty (Vikings)

All were cut. Practice squads will be set later today.

9/6/2009, 08:43 AM
Larry Birdine (Titans)
Branndon Braxton (Browns)
Bois Estate's Ian Johnson (Vikings)
Oregon's Joey Harrington (Saints)
Michael Hawkins (Raiders)
Mizz's Chase Daniel (Redskins)
Lendy Holmes (Redskins)

OK, I think that is it for Sooners and other players we might all remember. I think many are going to be practice squaders. I think some of you were worried about Mark Bradley in KC and Iggy at da Bears... both appear to have made their final rosters.

I'm getting them all mixed up as the years go on.

I don't think Braxton was.

Birdine is 25 years old so I don't think he would have been on the 2000 championship team.

Brax is only 23 years old, so it would be impossible for him to be on the 2000 team.

Mizzou's Chase McBooger was signed to the Saints practice squad. (http://voices.washingtonpost.com/redskinsinsider/jason-reid/daniel-signed-to-saints-practi.html) Surprising, considering he spent the preseason in D.C.

Our own Lendy Holmes made the Redskins practice squad... he probably should be a regular roster as soon as the first defensive injury rolls in, considering he led the team in tackles this preseason.

OSU's Donovon Woods made the Steelers practice squad. (http://www.philly.com/philly/wires/ap/news/state/pennsylvania/20090906_ap_redmanjoinssteelerspracticesquad.html)

SC's Booty and Boise State's Ian Johnson are back with the Vikes on the practice squad. (http://www.victoriaadvocate.com/news/2009/sep/06/bc-fbn-vikings-bootyms-_-sports-400-words/?sports&nfl)

Rhett Bomar, if he doesn't end up with another team, is on the Giants practice squad. (http://www.nj.com/giants/index.ssf/2009/09/ny_giants_begin_filling_out_th.html)

OU's own Joe John Finley is back with the 49ers on their practice squad. (http://mvn.com/miningthegoldrush/2009/09/49ers-add-7-to-practice-squad-possibly-looking-for-veteran-rt.html)

Manny is still in Big D on the practice squad. (http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Biggs-Dallas-fills-out-roster-practice-squad.html)

I am probably missing others. Please post them if you see them!

If Bradley IS cut by the Chiefs I would be surprised, not that my surprise proves anything. Bradley played in 10 games for theChiefs last year and caught 30 passes.

Birdine graduated from Lawton Ike in 2002, and Brax came after him I think in 05 I'm not sure
