There are some fun "what you can't bring" rules for Sooner games. Here are the more important ones:

1- Binoculars, but not binocular cases. When they brought that rule in, there were random cases getting disposed at the gate, heh.

2- Water bottles, sans water. You can fill it as soon as you get inside. If this was how you planned to sneak alcohol in, I recommend Pocket Shots.

3- Cameras, but not big cameras. No video cameras, either. If your camera looks too professional, they'll make you go back to your car. Something with an uber lens should be left behind.

4- Seatbacks, but no armrests. They have approved seatbacks available for rent for $5 inside the stadium... a good way to ensure that your butt will have a seat on the bleacher areas!

More specific stuff can be found at SS.com here. (http://www.soonersports.com/facilities/memorial-stadium.html) See ya this fall!

What's a Pocket Shot? I've been pretty successful in smuggling my flask in to games out here, but I'm always willing to learn new tricks.

You can find empty pocket shot pouches all over the student section after the game. (Some of which may or may not have been mine)

Once I sat by one guy who had duck taped about 20 of em around his chest like some kind of suicide rum/vodka bomber. He also had a bottle of Captain that he had hidden in his pants. That was a fun game....

They sell them all around Norman... likely for this reason. I cannot vouch for how they taste, but I know people that it is common to see fans around you dumping them in Cokes as soon as they're inside, heh :D

Oh... but don't get caught.

the problem with seatbacks is all the people that have to walk over me repeatedly throughout the game

the cram you in tight enough, then you have to walk over/around those things

can't you go get your corndog or whatever and sit down before, not during kickoff

don't mind me, i'm bitter :D

Excellent information! I'm going to the KState game, and it'll be the first home game I've been back for in over 10 years. I want to fit in and follow alcohol protocol to the best of my limited abilities!

I agree you would think some of these people haven't eaten in weeks. They are up and down throughout the game. It never fails someone always needs out of the row during an important play.

as long as your lens isn't crazy, they should let you bring it in

http://www.soonersports.com/facilities/memorial-stadium.html

• Cameras (professional equipment or cameras with long telephoto lenses)

it's not specific though. i think Instigator said to stay away from white lenses :D

The OU policy was explained to me that DSLR's are okay but no telephoto lens over 200mm.

I take mine in all the time to basketball, football, etc. My lens zooms to 250 but doesn't look like it does, so I don't have problems.

Regarding norman hotels they tend to be full on game weekends.
There is a brand new Embassy Suites on north campus, and fairly new Hilton Garden Inn on the west side. Might be more likely to have open rooms if other fans are not yet aware of their existence. Otherwise downtown OKC or the Meridan Ave area (near airport) will have rooms.

Click here (http://www.visitnorman.com/default.aspx?page=62) for the entire list.

There is a nice motel just south of the stadium... The Sooner Motel! They even have hourly rates!

Norman is not very big. Any hotel in Norman will do but, closest to campus is the Best Western. It is a brand new hotel. For entertainment you might try a casino, Riverwind or Thunderbird. Riverwind usually has something going on during the weekends.

The real tailgating occurs at Lloyd Noble...

Yo so I'm gonna be making it down there for the OSU game. Hoping they can go undefeated so the game can have the atmosphere that the tech game had.

Anyways, how early should I try to book some of those closer hotels you mentioned?

Riverwind has a small hotel now and many game-goers won't be aware of that, so if you're having trouble finding digs for osu weekend, try there.

Does the Postal Training Center hotel offer up rooms to the public on game weekends? I thought I heard that was the only occasion they opened to the public. Food in their cafeteria/buffet is really good.

Doesn't hurt to ask

Yes, I've stayed there many times. $99/night and free breakfast buffet. Another plus is the bar - go back to the hotel, eat, drink, and watch more football with OU fans then take the elevator to your room. :)

I live close to this and had no idea there is hotel inside. Looks pretty nice and a free buffet if you stay.

Great free parking one mile east of the stadium at a strip mall on Lindsey St. Tried to see the name of the place on google earth, but couldn't make it out. (Along the way you will encounter many Sooner fans/parties after you cross the RR tracks) Easy egress from the area if you're headed eastbound, speaking of which, Shawnee has good motels/hotels about 30 -40 easy minutes away.

Don't think they will need to stay that far away for the Tulsa game. Mostly instate fans and they will drive to the game. jmo

I don't know that that place has any special name. There is a Taco Bell on the SW corner of the lot and a grocery store anchoring the west end of the strip mall. No guarantees that they don't tow. There's an abandoned Taco Bell (old location) across Lindsey street there, next to Republic Bank. Since you're not displacing customers there it might be a way to avoid the tow risk.
