The over/under is 68 1/2 versus BYU. Which do you like and why?

I'm going under. 1.) Our defense is much better this year. I think it be a stretch for BYU to score more than 21 on us. BYU only averaged 20 points against quality defenses* last year(Washington, NM, TCU, Utah and Ariz.). Most of their points came against weaker teams. 2.) I think we will have a comfortable lead early and Stoops will be conservative both on offense and defense--there is nothing to prove this early so why not rest the first team.

Final score: 47-17 Under.

* By quality defenses, I mean quality for BYU. With the exception of TCU and Ariz. I would not consider any team that BYU played last year as having a quality defense.

I kind of lean under, but will not bet an under with a team that can put up 60 points easily. :D

as discussed in two other threads, overs

first game of season means blown assignments on both sides meaning big plays

the ou defense typically doesnt shut out, byu will score in the 17-20 range

ou will have no problems scoring over 50...starters will be in late for conditioning and ironing out wrinkles

week 1 is always risky... my picks will be coming out next Wednesday, guaranteed to win money if you pick my picks each week (for the net season)!

That's a lot of points. I think I'll avoid that bet.

Alabama might disagree.

Also OU "only" scored 35 on TCU at home. Seems like a lot until you look at how well OU scored on everyone else (ex Fla).

i can definitely see US scoring 68. but i don't understand how we get the additional 1/2 point. stranger things have happened, i suppose.

Oh, and to call my shot, I'd say OU scores half-a-hunnerd on the cooters, now will they score 20 on OU? I'd say, yeah. So over, but I wouldn't put any beer money on it.

If they are smart, BYU will keep the ball on the ground and grind it out using Unga and Tonga (reminds me of that "ooogachacka ooogachacka" song, for some reason), but their coaches are dumb as rocks and think they are still Lavell Edwards' Quarterback U and will try to throw it downfield on OU - and they will regret it.

68 1/2? I give us a 50-50 shot to hit that all by ourselves.

Another reason it will be under. ASPCA. OU will keep the score down so they won't stress the Ponies on the Schooner. He**, I thought the poor fellows were going to drop after we laid 65 on Tech. Luckily, it was a night game.
