should be voted on by the players this week... there are usually 4... my guess for this year

Sam Bradford
Gerald McCoy
Trent Williams
Ryan Reynolds

your guess????

(last year they were, Bradford, G. McCoy, Cooper, Nic Harris... I'm pretty sure)

McCoy and Bradford are shoo-ins, seeing how they were elected captains as sophomores last year, heh.

RR is definitely a good choice, as he was kind of the defacto defensive quarterback last year. The final spot would then go to an offensive dude or special teamer. Does Trent do special teams?

There are a lot of good quality leaders on offense and defense. They may need some extra team captain awards this season.

Choose, but choose wisely, Sooners :D

I sure hope that whichever awesome player gets snubbed for the captaincy isn't bitter.

Sooners Choose Captains

Team votes in four, others will rotate

Aug. 28, 2009

NORMAN, Okla. - Oklahoma announced its team captains today for the 2009 football season. The captains were selected in a vote by the team.

The four players accumulating the most votes were quarterback Sam Bradford, tight end Brody Eldridge, defensive tackle Gerald McCoy and linebacker Ryan Reynolds.

According to head coach Bob Stoops, enough other players received considerable votes that another captain roles will rotate among a group comprised of defensive end Jeremy Beal, running back Chris Brown, fullback Matt Clapp, linebacker Keenan Clayton, Auston English, Jermaine Gresham and Trent Williams.

"I appreciate the four who received the most votes and they will represent the team well," Stoops said, "but I also think it says a lot about our program that so many other players were mentioned on the ballots. We have a large pool of players who fit the role of captain and that tells me that we have a healthy and cohesive locker room."

Oklahoma is continuing its preparations for the Sept. 5 opener against BYU at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

I like how all these guys are great players in addition to being great leaders. So many teams have lesser players that are the great leaders where we have so many that are both leaders and excellent athletes.
