Well, fair play to Kirk, at least he gave an actual REASON, rather than "Texas got screwed last year so they really want to win it this year!!!" like alot of other media types are saying. Interestingly enough, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch had a bizarre amount of love for OSU in their "Big 12 preview" today, even picking us to finish third lol. Normally I just read that paper (well, online of course) for Cards news and views, but I always enjoy a north division perspective to the Big 12. They seem to be fresh off the Mizzou fandom "offense is amazing!!!" view of football, so not surprisingly, they get excited about the world's most powerful offense and forget about that whole defense thing.

ESPN doesn't hate us, they just love the flavor of the week, no matter who it is at the time. Any team or player that gets a little bit of hype and popularity gets blown out of proportion by ESPN. They might sensationalize more **** than any other news network.

I agree - ESPN doesn't hate us. They just go with the wind and unfortunately, the wind blows the same direction for a long time if you lose your bowl game. I do think individual announcers have their biases as all people do. I think May is a USC fan - not anti-OU. He also seems to be anti-ND, but I think that is just to get under Holtz's skin. After we dominate BYU, ESPN will be gushing about us.

I don't think they'll be giving us the same kind of love that teams like Florida and Texas get until we win a BCS game again. It's sad but it's something we have to deal with until it happens. It's also part of the reason why I'm doing my best to not watch ESPN except for when they actually show games, and even then, the volume is usually down.
