Visitors from other planets literally flock to Earth whenever there is a new movie about . . . visitors from other planets, or at least that is the inference drawn on recently declassified data from the United Kingdom's Ministry of Defence.

The two busiest years for sightings of UFO's in Great Britain were:

1978 (coincides with the release of Close Encounters of the Third Kind)

and

1996 (coincides with the release of Independence Day) when there were 609 reports of UFO's versus 117 in 1995. There were an additional 425 sightings in 1997 but by 1998 the number dropped back to 193.

It is expected that the movie District 9 will draw a large number of extraterrestrials who no doubt won't want to wait light years for the signal to travel from Earth to their planet(s) through normal space.
