What the hell is wrong with the Gators? Don't they have this year to worry about? I love my soul, but I would give a 5th of it, just to play them once more.

He said he got a lot of enjoyment out of seeing the look on Sooner quarterback Sam Bradford’s face after he made that interception.

“I saw it a couple times (on tape),” Black said. “I just like looking at Sam Bradford’s face. I fast-forward through the pick and just look at him.”

Living in FLA right now has been awful. I hear from FLA fans this sort of carp. I hear from FSU fans about the Balogun situation, and I hear from Miami fans just how they are going to beat us this year....I think Tebow feels he has to be great because he is/was surrounded by headcases at FLA. Black is one of them, just like Spikes, and Harvin was last year. After the SEC title game, while the rest of the team was celebrating, Harvin was off having his own interviews.

I used to have a fair amount of respect for urban meyer as a coach with his success at non-powers like Bowling Green (where I grew up  ) and Utah. However, now that he has acheived the pinnancle of success in his sport his team gives the appearance of being somewhat out of control. I know a coaching staff can't babysit its players every off the field action, but one would think that with all the media adulation, florida would want to appear to be a class act.

One who cites statistics such as merit scholar recruitement as a sign of their school's greatness, when there even the University of Texas has them beat. One who can calls an overcrowed, dumpy, overrated school in the middle of a hick town great. One who is gay and attends UFAG.

i get the feeling that the gators are going to start "believing the hype." i always hear how college football players don't watch/listen to espn/fox/etc... florida seems to be a collection of individuals all searching for the spotlight - "LOOK AT ME!!!!!" it may only be a perception, but when teams like florida (as they appear to be) start struggling in any situation, the fingers start pointing away from themselves - "I DIDN'T DO IT!!!! IT'S HIS FAULT!!!!"

in a true team, everyone places the blame on themselves - "IT'S MY FAULT", and finds a way to correct it as a unit.

It'll be interesting to see although they're not really tested until week 5 (Oct 10) when they go to LSU. Tebow did have his meltdown of epic proportions after last seasons loss to Ole Miss, but the 2008 team was coming off of a 9-4 season in 2007 culminating with the Capital One Bowl loss to Michigan. This seasons team is looking like it has totally bought into all the hype ... they can't be good winners so how will they be if and when they lose?

Is Ahmad Black a DB?

Safety that tied for the lead in D1 in interceptions last year. Slower than most, smaller than most, all he does is play the game the way it should be played. Best fundamental tackler on the team with a great football IQ that helps him to be in the right place at the right time more often than not. Was considered by many to have gotten an offer in a package deal to get Rainey and the Pouncey twins from the Lakeland team. Many thought after being put at CB and failing miserably (too slow, hips to tight); he would wash out and be gone by his second year. He worked his arse off and redirected himself and became the starting safety on the national championship team as a true sophomore.

His comment was not that different from any other defensive player that has ever talked about how good a big hit feels when they feel the opposition crumple (Butkus comes to mind with a few quotes along those lines). As a student of the game, he enjoys the mental aspect, hence the comments about how the int impacted the psyche of the QB. Ahmad is a good kid that, by his own admission, was a punk that did not know what hard work was when he got to UF.

When he refers to himself as a punk now, he is admitting that he still has a lot to learn and room to grow as a person as well as a football player. If you are over 40, I would be willing to bet that most guys you know that are 21 years old are punks (there are exceptions to the rule, I'm talking majority here) but how many of those are willing to acknowledge their shortcomings?

For those hoping that UF is full of themselves, good luck with that. No team can have that much talent stockpiled when it is full of me first kids. Spikes (who passed on a frist round draft pick to come back - and he is from humble origins) and Haden both were quoted recently as saying that Will Hill (safety) is our best defensive player and the kid doesn't start and doesn't complain about it. Our rb by committee features no single back but the guys all accept it and do their part because the team comes first. I could give a lot of examples of how guys have sacrificed their individual goals to help the team win but it would be pointless.

Flame away. :pop:

I personally do not care what any Gator player, coach, administrator, or fan has to say.

However, what they need to do is start acting like they have been there before. Until then, then I can only hope that the Sooner players and coaches, and even their fans, do not stoop to their level.

We all know that they won a very hard fought game by both teams. However, when one looks back on it, the Gators know that they won thanks to a few plays that were not executed correctly by the Sooners.

To me, that would be a threat to me as well...like it seems to be to this Gator football team...Just to know that there could be a rematch for a national championship, against a team, that failed to execute on a few plays would scare the living sh*t out of me too.

Well said and my thoughts exactly. Maybe the decades of constantly underacheiving or the epic 62-24 beatdown by Nebraska in the 1995 MNC game are giving them an inferiority complex they feel they need to overcome.

To be honest...I do not care what could be the cause of their panties being in a bunch.

But the Gators have won 3 National Championships and 2 this decade, meaning they have been there before.

It is high time they stop acting like the Miami Hurricanes of the 1980s and early 1990s and start acting like what they are...champions.

Until then, I will not have respect for them, their coach, their thuggish players, or anyone associated with them with the same arrogance and attitude that this Gator Football team is portraying coming into this season.

Birdine, yes, but Franks? How exactly did he talk trash? He stated that he thought Bradford, McCoy, and Harrell (or Robinson...not sure who he was referring to) are all better than Tebow. Lovefest aside, Bradford and McCoy WILL be higher on the draft boards of nearly every NFL team. Its not like he said the guy sucks. man, i don't know. kind of like larry birdine against USC and dominique franks talking about tebow last year? i think stoops's guys talk as much as anyone -- which is fine in my opinion, by the way. I just don't think OU players are any better.

Careful now, this is a OU board and you will be red before you know it.:D

All teams at this level have guys that talk first and think later. Nobody is immune. Some just wait till the game is done before they talk, some talk a lot during the game cough, Harris, cough, and some talk before the game.

my goal is to become red. all you have to do is offer a couple of objective thoughts and you'll get annihilated...

Oh well ... but I've learned that midgets talk the most which suits Ahmad Black.

charles darwin would be red if he were on this board, and george w. bush would be green.

I also enjoyed seeing the look on a QB's face when he had a pass intercepted...specifically, when Harris and McCoy picked off Tebow.
