Were you at the game last night? We have "tailgate" parking passes but were wondering how that went for anyone at the game last night....or if you have some inside knowledge of what they are doing about those spots.

maybe some of you season ticket holders know?:pop:

Oooh, this reminds me. I know a dude that lives in Dallas and he said he heard that TAILGATING WAS NOT ALLOWED AT THE NEW STADIUM.

He has to be wrong....I hope.

ANYONE?

That would be really stupid.

I thought I heard they were allowing it, but only in designated areas.

I don't really know though.

So what you're saying is they opted to sell Totino's instead?

Whatever they sell they were $60 last year too. It was funny how quickly Cow officials were to correct the erroneous report of $90 pizzas, as if $60 pizzas were much better. :D

They are making up for it by charging 30 bucks for a napkin.

we plan on tailgating inside the back of our truck. I read somewhere. except in the tailgating area, no chairs or coolers on the ground.

So we will set inside the pickup bed

All because of a lazy bugeater journalist that also complained about the possibility that Cowboys Stadium would be a permanent site for the Big 12 CCG.

His rationale was that the game needed to be played in KC every once and awhile.

I've got a tailgaing pass for Lot 11; however, if you read the conditions for tailgating it says that it is only in designated areas, and it will first come first served. So it sounds like if you don't get there early you're out of luck.

Cowboys Stadium Tailgating
Tailgating is permitted in designated tailgating spaces only. These spaces are located on the perimeter of each parking lot and have a grass area immediately behind the vehicle parking spot. There are tailgating spaces in lots 4, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15, and the spaces are filled on a first come/first served basis. If interested in tailgating, it is important to arrive early to obtain one of the designated spaces. For more information on tailgating, including all tailgating guidelines, visit http://stadium.dallascowboys.com. Please be sure to review all of the tailgating guidelines if you intend on tailgate.

Just called the stadium, don't know how accurate this info is, they didn't know the time of the OU/BYU kickoff, but told me that if it was 6 the parking lots wouldn't be open until 4

JLEW1818
8/24/2009, 02:32 PM
wtf?

no way they don't open till 4, I'd say 2 at the latest, those people on the phone were worthless ... lol

Here are the rules for tailgating at Cowboys Stadium:

•Tailgating is allowed in designated spaces on the perimeter of each parking lot. These spaces have a grass area right behind the parking space.

•The spaces are first-come, first-served.

•Parking spaces are for vehicles only. Driving lanes must remain clear at all times. Items such as coolers, tents, tables or chairs may not be placed on the ground behind, in front of or around parked vehicles. They are allowed only in designated spaces.

•All recreational vehicles longer than 19 feet must park in Lot 14 and must have an oversized vehicle parking pass.

I'm really tempted to show up early and just tailgate all day - I normally don't do that. I don't want to deal with parking near game time, for one thing, and I'm really looking forward to a few games that day so I'd like to see as much of them as possible.

Any on here that would be willing to let me bum off of their satellite in exchange for a six-pack of something? :D

Jerry doesnt want you drinking .50 per can miller lites you bought at the store in his parking lot all day!!

But whe he doesnt understand is that I need to be really boozed up to drop 9.75 per beer inside!!!

Catch 22

Lot 11 is BYU, but I would say 90% of the people I know that are tailgating from my area are in Lot 11. I really don't see BYU bringing too many tailgaters.

i will be in 14. No TV though. I was about to buy a tailgating pass until it said in fine print that it is first come/first serve. Why the hell would I pay an extra $10 if I am not guaranteed a spot to tailgate?

I just found another number and called the stadium and actually got to talk to someone that sounded knowledgable. He said the lots will open 5 hours prior to kickoff. I asked about the first come first serve tailgating passes. He stated that if you bought a tailgate pass you will have a tailgate spot. The earlier you get there the closer to the stadium you will be. The only thing I found questionable was I asked how many tailgating spots were in Lot 11 and he said he would guess about 1000. Hopefully this is accurate info

Quick note on Beer prices since I saw it mentioned earlier. I was at the stadium today for a tour and they have all of the menus up. Looks like Miller Light is the only option and it's $8 for those 16 oz plastic bottles. Some locations have MGD 64 for $9. Hot Dogs are $4 and most sandwiches are $8 to $9. A bottle of water is $5 and a soft drink is $6.

Good news for tailgaters, there is a Walmart directly across the street from the stadium (as in closer than most parking lots) so you'll have plenty of access to extra beer, food, etc. I'm wondering if they'll be selling any passes to park there?...

Good theory, however, I think those prices are just the prices for when the tour is in operation. Im pretty sure They will be 10-20% higher for football games.

We asked our tour guides when we were there a couple weeks ago and they said they had made an agreement with that Wal-Mart to reserve a certain portion of their parking spots only on game days. Not sure if that applies to college games, though.

They weren't selling anything during our tour, those are suppose to be the actual game day prices.

I booked a hotel a mile from the stadium as soon as we knew we were going to play (like that day) I'm paying $104 a night. My daughter tried to get a room at the same hotel about a month ago and the rate was $239 a night. So they go up a great deal.

I figured as much. So technically you are paying for the shuttle service ;).
