A lot of clothes these days say not to use fabric softener. For example, I wear a lot of Nike Dry Fit, or Adidas Climacool clothing, you know the breathable moisture wicking type stuff. Anyway, a lot of these things say not to use fabric softener, and my question is do they mean liquid fabric softener, or does that include dryer sheets as well, like Bounce?

**** if I know. I just throw clothes and detergent and let it run. Then take said clothes and stick them in the dryer with a dryer sheet. My UnderArmour moisture wicking stuff has held up alright under this.

Just doing some research on Google and it seems some peeps use dryer sheets and some don't.

The prepoderant idea seems to be it's not a good idea to use dryer sheets.

The reason I ask initially was I had this discussion with a few peeps the other day. They said they didn't think dryer sheets would hurt, and I said I wasn't sure but I didn't use them on my moisture wicking stuff.

Currently I don't use em, but I use em on my other clothes, and if it wouldn't hurt I'd use em on my moisture wicking stuff. :P

Dryer sheets like Bounce do soften. That means the stuff comes out of the dryer less absobent. I put my towels in the dryer withOUT a sheet. They do get ya drier if you dont use the sheets.

Fabric softener works by leaving a little coating of the "softener" on the outside of the fabric's fibers. So if you use a softener on your dri-fit type stuff, it'll mess with the fiber's moisture-wicking properties.

With that said, an average Joe probably won't notice the difference.

If you want an example of that, take the mesh lint trap out of your dryer (if you use fabric softener) and try to run water through it. chances are, the fabric softener coating's probably got it clogged up.

you're probably safe doing whatever you want with your dri fit stuff. we all know the sweat/grass stain/dirt/etc stains will take over your shirts long before any fabric softener will.

what you really have to watch in your wash is thin fabrics that a lot of these retro t-shirts seem to love. rrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiip!

I'm saying we normal schlubs don't operate at sufficient physical level to notice a 0.5% reduction in efficiency. Usain Bolt, now, he might notice.

My advice? Find a wife.

It would be cheaper to just throw the clothes away and buy new, than to to have a wife.
