While Pre-Season power ratings are not very accurate, I've found the power ratings in November to be relatively on point. Anyway, here are the Sagrin power ratings as published in August 20,2009 USA Today. Note: Take the power rating difference say between Georiga 86.59 minus the power rating for OSU 80.08 plus add 3.14 for the home team. In this senario Georiga would be 3.37 favorite not a 6 point dog.
Here are some of the power ratings of note for a full list go to www.usatoday.com.
1. USC 95.75
2. Fla 93.95
3. OU 92.10
4. UT 90.95
5. tOSU 89.29
6. LSU 88.55
7. GA 86.59
8. Penn S 86.58
9. Va. T 85.98
10. Ore 85.07
13. Tex Tech 84.16
21. BYU 80.81
25. KU 80.09
26. OSU 80.08
28. Nebbish 79.45
36. Mia 77.56
48. ND 75.02
53. Tulsa 73.69
Remember, this is based on computer strenght from last year, as this years data (scores) are inputed the ratings will get more relevant.
Some of the early difference are way off, according to this OU will only beat BYU by 11.29 points I think 18 to 21 is more like it. Also, BYU will be a stronger rival than OSU. However, the ranking difference between OU and UT is spot on with the game at this stage having OU as a slight favorite.
