View Full Version : In your opinion, who is THE MOST respected personality in all the media?

The one person who transcends partisan hackery more than any other?

The first person who replies, "Hannity" gets a screwdriver in the eye.

if that was the case, it would say "who do you respect the most in the media?" as stated, it asks "in your opinion"...."who is the most respected" (implying others or an objective standard of comparison as considered by others or the public at large).

i realize people in media all have horns and a tail and carry a pitchfork....but i think it's a fair estimation to consider the opinion of those in the same industry who know the work and, at least, to some extent, are familiar with it's set of values and merits....as they existed in the mythical past re: journalistic ethics, commitment to public discourse, and the role of political communication in a free society.

I'm still right and you're still wrong, despite your lecture on question writing.

I'm sure the media does repsect Moyers -- he's the partisan shill that many of them aspire to be.

I'm sure that many of the American people do not respect Moyers for the very same reason.

The one person who transcends partisan hackery more than any other?
Jon Stewart. He is pretty dang liberal but he makes no attempt to hide it and he makes more of an effort to be objective than "real" journalists. I know what I'm getting with him, and he seems to work pretty hard to overcome his bias when he has "the opposition" on his show. For example, the exchanges he and Huckabee have are interesting and respectful.

His politics are far different than mine but I have to subject myself to political commentary, that's my choice.

Oh, and Moyers is a smug PBS hack. He's the perfect example of a liberal that tries to conceal his bias.

There are very few in the media today that I trust. While this may sound like a joke, but I trust Dennis Miller. I believe that he is honest with his views and will stick by them regardless of the political environment.

The other person I would mention is Dennis Prager. He as intellectually honest as they come. You may disagree with his conclusions, but he will explain his reasons for arriving at them.

PS. John Stossel lost all respect from me when he decided to explain the corruption in FEMA by saying that his $xmillion dollar summer home was routinely hit by hurricanes but corrupt FEMA would always rebuild it for free. It has happened three times now.

I'm honestly not sure there exists such a journalist anymore. Everyone I can think of has compromised themselves in some shape, form, or fashion. I'd say Bob Schiffer comes pretty close.

I'd say Paul Harvey but he's gone.

Jon Stewart is a faux-moderate poser who employs one-sided jokes to influence a youthful, uneducated audience of useful idiots.

Good Example: Stewart has openly condemned President Truman as a war criminal for destroying Japan........after the Empire of the Sun bombed the United States and murdered American military men and civilian men and women.

There are many, many people --hundreds, thousands, who knows? -- of Americans who wouldn't be alive today (perhaps Stewart himself) if President Truman didn't order the order that he ordered. The hypothetical invasion casualty projections were astronomically awful for the American fighting forces.

And Jon Stewart is an educated guy....he knew that before he called Truman a war criminal for winning the war and saving American lives.

Stewart called Fareed Zakaria's The Post-American World his "Bible"....the United States just can't fall fast enough for people like him.

American Victory and American Success = shame and guilt. And apologies must ensue.

Look at the ratings -- compared to O'Reilly, Jon Stewart is respected by the American people like Michael Vick is respected by PETA.

And there are good reasons for that.

The most respected are now gone.....Cronkite, Jennings, Murrow. Tom Brokaw is around and he is very eloquent and good at what he does and doesn't deliver BS.

In sports....Marv Albert, Mike Tirico, Erin Andrews (she does it the right way), Al Michaels

Because of the Internet... NEWS is no longer aired unless for 30-60 minutes on 4, 5 and 9. MSNBC has lost some of its luster especially with Keith Olbermann who i still like because he is not FOS but he has changed. I only watch CNN for Larry King.

Anyone who respects FNC (which is Geraldo and Bill O'Hellno) supports unethical behavior and unprofessional broadcast journalism. FNC is porn (which is not bad) but they fail at everything except for nice looking women with nice legs and delicious racks.
