WASHINGTON (AP) — Former vice president Dick Cheney believes his old boss, President George W. Bush, gradually turned away from his advice during their second term in the White House, showing a surprising independence as he started taking more flexible positions on a range of issues, The Washington Post reported Wednesday.

Cheney has some real retarded audacity, to expect Bush to listen to him.

why did you even post it? Neither are no longer in office so I really don't see the need to keep bringin' it up.

Oh wait. No matter what happens from here on out it's gonna be either Cheney or Bush's fault. My bad.

Kinda fits the pattern of libz of late. Wanting people they "disagree" with to just "shut up" as Dear Leader says. Maybe someone will report him to the Whitehouse snitch line??

It's hilarious how you start threads spinnin' from the beginnin'. This one has maybe slightly less spin as the JC Watts thread you started.

Its the only thing the poor guy has left I suppose.

He knows the Obama and the libs are falling off the cliff,
so they have to go after their old boogey man again.

Since their new scare mongering and boogey happen to include most American's and the concept of common sense.

Actually Politics usually give rise to lunatics. I would be willing to bet there is more crazy(and probably criminal) people on capitol hill than in San Quentin

In other words....poor Cheney, George wouldn't play his game anymore. George finally realized Cheney was trying to run the country using him as a puppet. If Cheney wanted to run the country, he should have run for president, but no......it's much better to do it behind the scenes and when things go bad, you can't get blamed for it. Way to go... Dick.

If he hadn't listened to Cheney in the first place, he could have prevented a lot of problems. More and more is coming out and this administration is looking worse than we thought.

What I think it's better to be behind the scenes in running the country. It's far easier to continue your agenda while allowing your puppet to take the fall.

Good thread.

Cheney is bringing the debate out into the open with his tell-all book.

Cheney is talking about national security risks and seems to represent at least a branch of Republicans on this current important issue.

I don't see it as Cheney cashing in. The article mentioned that he has how many houses? I don't see this as only justifying his place in history. He has to prove his conviction and that he is right all along. He needs to see himself as a leading stalwart of the "protect America first" Republicans.

But, Americans like hope in their leaders, not fear.

It is still all good if every American president has someone who is going to be pushing for security. So, I don't think this tell-all book will be that eye opening. Okay, it would coming from a Vice President, but that is just a historical footnote.

The key thing is how much Cheney's views influence future administrations.

His views and experiences are even more important now that Dear Leader is about to start his political witch hunts against the folks who kept us safe all the years since 9/11.

No doubt it will only get worse the more Obama's poll numbers plummet and his agenda continues to collapse.

Why is obama getting blamed for what Cheney wrote in his book? Maybe cheney wanted to keep the country safe, but to write a book and say "that MY BOSS stop taking my advice" is pretty disrespectful to the former president.

Tonight when i go to work, i think i'll give my supervisor some advice, and when he doesnt listen, well, i'll just tell everyone that he is starting to think for himself.... but i am not trying to undercut him...just wait til i quit, and then you'll get the blow by blow.

Bush like most POTUS don't like to be unpopular and by his second term he was just that. I am sure he blamed Cheney and wanted his popularity back so he stopped listening but it was too late. It is amazing that Cheney had that much influence really. Most V.P.'s are consulted but not to that extent.

I would say his inability to effectively appoint administrators was Bush's primary failing, followed closely by his absolutely unwavering resolve, regardless of tangible changes to situations beating him over the head. Cheney realizes he's going down a disgrace and is trying to pass the buck, whatever makes him feel better.

I think your all wrong about Cheney. He's not the pass the buck kind of guy. You may not like decisions he made, but trust me, he doesn't care. As far as passin' the buck, how long is this administration going to keep pointing at the previous one, which is particularly hypocritical when you consider they owned congress the last two years of the previous administration.
