View Full Version : R.J. Washington beasting in camp...

R.J. has apparently come on super strong, second only to Jeremy Beal. Beal has had the best fall camp of all the D-ends, it's said he has taken his game to another level right now. What was the 5th best D-end on the team is now looking like the 2nd best D-end on the team in R.J. English and Alexander have also looked impressive, Beal and Washington just moreso.

Dominque Franks says is most impressed with Marcus Trice, he also said Sam Proctor is having a great camp.

Gerald McCoy says Jamarcus Mcfarland is impressive and is having a great camp.

That's not how I'm reading things. The way I read it.......

1. Beal
2a. Alexander
2b. English
4. Washington........but RJ is looking good

In the short term, RJ has been better than English and Alexander. However, those two have proven themselves over the course of a season and are solidly in the starting 3. RJ has had a great couple weeks and, if he keeps this up, may challenge the top three sometime later in the season.

I don't think he challenges the top 3 for starting. He probably just gets added to the rotation to keep everyone fresh.

He mostly just reports what the coaches tell him, and they like to talk up their guys.

It's nice to hear that RJ is doing well, but I wouldn't bet on him beating out English.

This thread is a little different than Jake Trotters 8-12 practice report, stating that RJ was battling David King for the 5th DE spot.

Regardless of who the top 5 DEs are, sounds like we have good depth and a lot of guys playing hungry. We are solid at DT too.

And with all the guys we had to play at LB last year, and Reynolds back, we have depth there too.

And we have a couple of corners coming back that looked good last year.

I think the D could be dominant this year.

there are some freshmen battling for cb and safety positions, backup positions that is. Hurst was playing with the first team D at the open practice.

Who are the other 4? Beal, English, Alexander, ?. I think we'll see King and RJ play this season and we have stronger depth at DE then we do DT.

I think he had his math off. He said RJ entered spring at 5th, and he was battling with King for 4th, not 5th. Seems he' passed King now.

Injury report: Defensive end David King did not dress today with an undisclosed injury. He stretched with the team, but that was it. King was ahead of Washington on the depth chart coming into the fall, but that appears to be swinging back the other way. DE Pryce Macon is also out with an undisclosed knee injury. DeMarco Murray, dealing with a hamstring, wore a helmet, but was largely held out.

If RJ continues to improve like that, and Tom Wort and Jayden Bird continue to impress, that front seven is going to be illegal states. Again, explain to me how UTerus is going to success against OUr "D"?
