So, I'm having lunch with some colleagues today, and the 'Pokey among us says, rather smugly I might add: "No former Sooner has ever started at QB in an NFL game."

Is that true?

I might add, I did retort with, "well, you know, we ran the wishbone for about 15 years" to which he replied, "that's a good point."

Nevertheless, could this be true?

TIA

As long as we're talking regular-season, yep, that's the case.

Given the fact that OU ran the Split-T, the Wishbone and the I for most of its pre-Stoops glory years, that fact is about as relevant as the fact as we've never had a starting goaltender in the NHL, either.

And while they are at it, see if they can name the last OSU qb to play in a national championship, conference championship, bcs bowl, or in a sold out Boone Pickens stadium.

True, although Troy lists his college as UCLA.

And yes, I do know he played at OU.

The NFL HOF says he went to both OU and UCLA.

Fair enough. I was going off his NFL profile.

Tell ol' Pokey he has more important things to worry about, such as defending the love lives of his compatriots . . . .

I could only find two OSU QB's who were drafted, but I don't know if they played.

1970 Bob Cutburth CHI 6th round 133overall
1985 Rusty Hilger RAI 6th round 143overall

Here's OU's
1942 Jack Jacobs RAM 2nd round 12overall
1947 Charlie Sarratt CRD 12th round 101overall
1953 Eddie Crowder NYG 2nd round 22overall

If Troy has a 1985 championship ring, he is fair game to claim as a Sooner. So... does he have a ring?

Troy Aikman was born in California, grew up in California and went to college in California. He has no respect for Switzer and Oklahoma. He fits the typical description of a Caliphony and he is a disgrace.

... after he wins his own crystal ball this year.

He was born in California, he didn't move from California to Oklahoma until he was 12, and he did go to college at UCLA.
