Texas (-1) vs. OU.

For your non-gamblers, this means Texas is the slight favorite. These will surely change as games play out but its pretty fair barometer on how the gamblers view the game as of this date.

All that means is that the people who make the lines feel that people would slightly bet more on texas. It's not who they think will win.

True, but a lot of bettors don't have a vested interest in one team or another
and the are just trying to balance their book(s). That being said, the dis interested investor (bettor) thinks Texas is a slight favorite. Going into the RRS I would rather be a slight dog than the favorite.

-1 is almost a coin flip in their eyes.

I think Texas will rip and snort through their first five games... blowing out Tceh, yes... but we'll get a good look at Tejas's defense during the Tceh game. Whatever we see out of Potts *should be* what we can expect out of Sam provided no major injuries or flukes happen.
No one IMO is really good enough to rough Tejas up, so I'd throw down my $.02 that they are 100% for the RRS.
Keeping my fingers crossed for OUr guys, however.

I understand how the lines are made. I'm just pointing out that "the public", as of today, considers Texas to be a slight favorite. If you guys recall, we were a touchdown favorite last year and a ten point favorite the year before.

Well I'm public and I say the Sooners are 24 point faves in every Big XII game and 40 point faves in all non-cons. Except Id St. We're (-99) in that one.

Anyone on either side who doesn't think the game is close to a tossup is kidding themselves.

Anyone who thinks the steers will be anywhere near as good this year as they have been lately is kidding himself.

Wins over Louisiana-Monroe, Wyoming, Texas Tech, UTEP, & Colorado will probably help Texas be undefeated, but I won't be shocked if we've already jumped Texas in the rankings because they'll have beaten an average Tech team by one TD.

I'm thinking the texas vs tech game will open at like Texas -10

I'm jumping on the line fast, in favor of the horns. they will kill tech . end of story!

So basically, everybody except a handful of OU, Tech, and A&M fans are total morons?

OU loses a lot on the OL and WR, although obviously having Gresham still around is a big boost since he's as good as another WR. Texas loses a ton at the DL, and their only RB who could do it all as opposed to being a one-dimensional specialist. Both teams return tons of talent. OU has Murray back from his injuries. Texas's DBs won't be so inexperienced. All signs point to the two teams being close to equal and probably both finishing in the top 5 (maybe just outside of it, since 11-1 or 12-1 regular season + bowl game loss could result in #6 or #7).

Do you want to talk grade-school smack, or talk football?

I'm thinkin' it will probably come down to which QB has the better day, and I'm pickin' the one that has a Heisman on his mantel! ;)
