KILLER SHOW REPORT:

OK OK, the show lasted 3.5 hours, and was sincerely FABULOUS! It greatly exceeded my expectations. Both Pat and Blondie can still sing themselves silly, and Blondie an incredible entertainer, even at 64 yrs old! Actually a better concert than the one I saw last summer, which was superb. It had Jack Bruce singing his Cream stuff, Eric Burdon and the Animals doing all their hits, Badfinger, Jani Ian and jonathan Edwards. Tonight's show was actually as good as any concert I have ever see, even including the great bands I saw in their haydays in the '70's.

Jack Bruce is one of the more shamefully under-recognized cats in rock. i thought all the dudes in Badfinger were dead. they were on the Beatles label, Apple. McCartney sings backup on "If you want it".

i'd be interested in what band is playing with Pat Benetar? if Bozzio is there; heck, you already made money just being there.Pat had 4 guys in her band. I didn't hear the name Bozzio. Her lead guitar guy is a fabulous guitarrist, and she called him "Spider." I think they are married, and his actual name is Neil Geraldo. He and Pat wrote some of their hits, including "Hell is for Children". Pat rocked the house all night. No jazz, and just one torch song.(I didn't know the song) They waited deep into the performance before finally plaing my fave, "Love is a Battlefield". They had 2 encores, including "Heartbreaker". Yes, she sang "Invincible". This is one of the most powerful voices in music.

I wondered how Blondie was going to measure up to the killer performance by Pat. She came on stage strangely attired, with a fairly long dress, a white cardigan sweater, a hat and sunglasses. She wore all that for the first couple of songs, including "Call Me"(hear that, Turd?)Then, she took off the hat, then the cardigan, and her voice got more powerful and had more range. Shortly afterwards, she shed the sunglasses, and was singing full throttle. It became an emotional and exciting connection with the audience. She had several songs I didn't know that were superb. I have no idea of the titles. "One Way or Another" was about 3/4 through her show. She did 2 encores, as well. The first was "Heart of Glass", and the second was Michael Jackson's "Don't stop til you get enough".

if Bozzio is there; heck, you already made money just being there.I hung out with him the other day over at TheDrumNetwork.com. He and Neil were doing a show.

They jammed out for a while. It was kinda sick. Old men with sticks...hitting stuff. :)

I wouldn't go see her if she was playing the Neverwin right up the road and I had comps.

Like I said, chick singers/chick rock bands don't do it for me. Heart? Blondie? Benatar? Meh. Just ain't my bailiwick.
