I think it's the right choice. I believe in second chances. He did his time, let's see if he can turn his life around.

Too bad he didn't give those dogs second chances.

I don't know what's wrong with Jerry Jones. Dallas could use a receiver/returner.

If I committed a felony and served a couple of years in prison, I'm pretty sure my current employer would not hire me back. Ever.

I'm not really a animal rights, tree hugging, global warming guy but what vick did, that was pretty messed up. The closest I've come to killing a dog was when my freakishly large lab chewed on my light up OU hat!

Olevet I'm trying to respect this thread and all but damn it you've made me think of a whole lot of dog jokes!! Just let me know when I can release the hounds. So to speak...

I think this is ridiculous. He missed two seasons, right? That's 32 games. He killed some dogs. Too bad he didn't kill a human, that only gets you 8 games and somewhere around 30 days in jail.

Except for the precedent of allowing other people convicted of worse crimes, AGAINST HUMANS, being employed again and again with lesser punishments.

Who will take him? Oakland, I can't thing of anyone else. Does the good outweigh the bad?

badger
7/28/2009, 07:15 AM
Somebody will have to take a chance on him, just to see if he is anywhere close to where he was when he was the leagues highest-paid player. Ojala ojala ojala that it will not be my team, the Packers. He might have to make a stop up in Canada first... all the while selling off his assets to pay creditors, heh.

Good grief. This shouldn't even be newsworthy.

7/28/2009, 08:15 AM
I think he should have a second chance in the NFL... he did his time, he paid his debt to society (just not his creditors yet, lol). Second chance yes... I just don't want my team being the one giving it to him. If a team that opposes us gives him said second chance, I want my team to sack him repeatedly to the point where he has negative yards in every statistical category... and yes, you can have negative passing yards! Plus, I will cheer for whoever opposes him.

soonerfan28
7/28/2009, 08:29 AM
I hope he gets a second chance somewhere, but you know when you take that on that PETA will be there every time they get a chance. I personally believe he got more then enough punishment.

If Leonard Little gets to suit up every Sunday, then Michael Vick should, too.

badger
7/28/2009, 08:47 AM
Clarification - I think Vick should have the chance to receive a second chance, but I could not care less if a team actually signs him or not. If every NFL team in the league says "no, don't want to deal with this headache," that is perfectly fine. If some team is like "hey, we suck anyways" and signs him, whatever.

I can't imagine that Oakland would sign Vick, even with crazyman Al Davis making the decisions.

They have multi-millions invested in J Russell and they also have Garcia at QB. Garcia > Vick.

Plus, Davis loves the vertical game - not Vick's strong suit.

I can't imagine an owner wanting such a distraction during training camp.

He should play for Cleveland, in the dog pound.
I can see it now, Michael Vick comes down the ramp opening day to the sounds of Who Let the Dogs Out. Woof, woof.

I hate everything between Norman and Houston.......my cowboy friends think TFRW is going to be a solid number number 1 WR.... (0-4 vs OU) hehehe

I sure hope you're wrong because Dallas needs a #1 pretty bad. Stanbach has good size and speed, but can't seem to do sh*t for the Cowboys.

Wrong, that would be Cedric "Where's my plasma" Benson....
Speaking of the Bungels.....they might take him.

I think Vick needs to give up the thought of playing QB in the NFL, he wasn't a QB at Va. Tech he was an athlete playing QB which you can get by with in college. Why the Falcons took him with a #1 pick or signed him to a big extension is beyond me. Jim Mora Sr. was right when he said Vick was a coach killer as a QB.
