The recent issues the board has been experiencing? They're all like, brand new, man.

JM I won't sugarcoat it, I've been disappointed here since the 08 election ramped up. Hell, the 04 election ramp up, happening, and subsequent meltdown/fallout was like child's play compared to 08.

The De-evolution here has been amusing to watch, posters breaking into "factions" and cliques driving wedges in between. Perceptions of favoritism via agenda whether real or imagined. The popularity of this board as being the Sooner board to post at provided you survived the hazing drawing in all sorts of riff-raff via the football forum extending into the South Oval. Maurice Clarett at the NFL Combine making the Fark board explode onto the national scene.

Sure, it was more fun when the political pissing contests were basically LAS v. Tuba and everyone else occasionally interjected something or attempted to threadjack them. When Fri/Sat night drunkytown threads had a good 20 posters in them ranging from Howzit to Norm to bri to dbhuge to Jerk to Tail.

I think the meanspiritedness started well before the election ramp up. The abuse of the reputation feature was key in the attitude change here. Organized "negspek" campaigns, thread/board "jihads", various forms of ganging up with bully tactics. The election was more the final driving of the wedge than the actual source of problems. The end results just a bigger picture breakdown of overall dynamics.

Dean, One thing Ive noticed is that Back in da day when One of the Mods/Admins asked any of the Posse to chill out we would do so with out a bunch of this whining and or bitching that seems to be going on by some of the new posters and a few of the old ones who left and came back.

An example, When Froz 1st became a mod, If i said something that wasnt really appropriate he would send me a Peem and ask me to reword it, No prob.Never whined ,never argued. Im simply amazed at the amount of tolerance Yall are showing.

I for one am glad to see David Earl back in action and look forward to his public shoe whippings, even if I end up on the receiving end ;)

I think it changes from message board to message board and in this case it's being questioned because a small group of posters seemingly logged on here because the old board they were on is gone. Now....they could log on to the new place and fit in, make friends, take it slow and get to know the old posters or they could not care in the least and if the old posters don't like it....they can go find their own board. Since this one had a group of posters with an alternative board for things that can't be posted here anymore....the new posters decide to try and make them the bad guys. It now isn't working because the Posse doesn't have a lot of bad people in it....just Sooners. The new group begins to be brought into line by the current moderators of SoonerFans and the new guys start whining and crying about it. They cause disruption after disruption, bait Posse members and hope to get them all to leave.

Most of us are now logging in to see what the outcome of all of this will be once the new guys realize they can't take over. Once they realize that this isn't like other message Boards.

Some of the new guys will either end up getting perma-banned like they did at the previous Board they were at or figure out that they can start their own board very easily if they cough up a few bucks for their own server. They can take all the free time they seem to have here and create the perfect world they want for themselves and still log on here same as the Posse does.

Of course....that might not be fun. That might take to much time and effort. Instead....it seems they will continue to try the Martyr approach.

Dont think I ever said it did, I do know that its just been in the last 20 years er so that Ive even opened up about ever serving at all.

my son is a combat veteran - went in with the first infantry unit in the surge - spent 15 months in Baghdad - i'm proud as hell of him for it - but i've also told him that while its a nice thing - it only carries you so far in life

My Son went into Bosnia in 95, then was called up to go into Iraq in the Invasion. He to was stationed around Baghdad.


i served for 21 years and while it gets me a pretty good deal on health insurance - thats about it really

Now the Bad assed CS gas was O/S we were low crawling under Concertina wire with full field packs an M14s when the Drill S. popped the gas canisters . we then had to wait till some one yelled Gas attack then turn over and get our Gas masks out and clear em then Put em on. Cept some of the assclowns would reach down and grab yer mask and toss it 15 to 20 feet away. then ya had to roll back over crawl thru that **** , Find it , clear it all over again and get it back on . All the while Tears are running like water out yer eyes.Snot is runnin out yer Nose worse than 3 sick babies.
