I saw something a few weeks ago when we spent the weekend in Galveston that suprised me, a Texas issued LSU license plate. I wasn't aware that any out of state colleges had license plates available in Texas. I looked it up on the TxDOT plate website (http://www.txdot.gov/drivers_vehicles/license_plates/default.htm) and sure enough it is on there, not under colleges and universities but under Souvenir Plates (http://rts.texasonline.state.tx.us/NASApp/txdotrts/SpecialPlateOrderServlet?grpid=90) under the LSU Alumni Association, you can get one for a car or motorcycle. I wonder what it would take to get an Texas issued OU license plate.

From that site: "Many of the specialty license plates we offer are available as souvenir plates for purchase by individuals or organizations. These plates are not street legal or insignias of vehicle registration, but they can serve many unique purposes. Individuals have purchased souvenir plates as fun and quirky gifts, mementos, decorations or to put on bicycles or non-street-legal vehicles."

Sounds like it's not a real plate.

He was using it as one front and back, it was in a hotel parking lot in Galveston and I saw no other plate on the truck. I didn't look to see if the windshield sticker matched the hard plate though.

It is a real plate. If you go to TexDOT's website, it is on there. There is a rumor that OU alums are trying to get on passed through for Texas too, but the LSU alumni association got one passed through and it is a legit plate.

The LSU plate is real and legal. Seen many of them around Houston.
There is an OU *Texas* specialty plate in the works by the Houston club. But there is a lot of red tape. It will take some time. It took LSU about 2 years to get theirs. For *Texas* residents, please be patient.

That is becuase one of the ways to pass the plate is through the state legislature, which of course is in Austin. That isn't going to help us at all! :D

BTW - The majority of the people in the legislature are NOT from Austin, it seems that the Austin area gets left out of many things because of this fact. There are also more Aggies in control positions of the state legislature right now than Whorns. Lobby the Aggies, they might just do it just to **** off the Whorns.

I just looked on the Texas DMV site and there is now a Texas issued Florida Gator plate (http://rts.texasonline.state.tx.us/NASApp/txdotrts/SpecialPlateOrderServlet?grpid=60&pltid=184).

Bandwagoners tend to spend a lot of money on fan gear. These states that offer UF plates are just cashing-in.

Yup. Separating idiots from their hard earned dough.

Better to have a well placed bumper sticker IMO.

Somehow out of all of those, my eyes went immediately to "Dope-Hemp '96".
