Its a blog, I know, but some jaw dropping stats on the economy and comparisons nonetheless. The global industrial output graph really is stunning.

"We are now in the early stages of a depression. The economic indicators we follow to track real economic activity are all signaling a slowdown of massive proportions. You wouldn’t know it reading the mainstream papers of course – they all focus on the relative decline in the slowdown’s intensity."

If you want people to understand your graphs it helps to label the axes...

They're labeled pretty well. The sides are an index to 100 and the numbers at the bottom are months.

However, Tuba posted this on a day where the DJIA is up 150+ and has crossed back over 9000.

I get the chart. But, I don't think we are going to repeat 1929. We have a whole set of new and unique problems. Economists who want to draw historic parallels to the current crisis should be completely ignored.

And, this thread still fails.

EARLY stages of depression?! Hell, how long has it been since we've won a championship?! NINE years?! We've waited eight seasons (going on nine) for No. 8 now. Depression, indeed!

Tuba, you've been in a full blown depression since last November...please, for the love of humanity...stop it.
