So I have this problem with a leak in a hot water pipe under my house. Has anyone else in the area dealt with this? We have a specialist coming out to "pin-point" the leak, and I understand they can cut through the cement to reach below and fix it. But what if it springs a leak elsewhere? Is that likely? Are there any more permanant solutions other than re-piping above ground?? House is about 19 yrs old.

It happens. Usually where the copper is supported by a piece of re-bar. To hold it in place when the concrete is poured. I don't think the area makes any difference.

Eschbach has been doing commercials for weeks for a company that does this type of thing. Something about Leak Detect.

Detecting the location we have covered (I hope) by a Norman plumber with special leak detection equipment. Am hopeful it can be fixed, then, without a lot of collateral damage.

Preventing future woes is my main concern.

If he shows up with a hound dog and devining rod I may be calling Eschbach's guy. On second thought a hound dog might actually be useful in this situation.

Thanks for the reply.

I hope its something like that and not general corrosion of the pipe - pinhole leak. Suppose I oughta wait to see what it looks like before getting all worried.

Any luck?

I heard the commercial on the radio again today. It is High Tech Plumbing and Leak Detect. They also give you a 10% discount if you say you want the friends of Al Eschbach discount.

Turns out the culprit pipe was a plastic pipe and the moles must have got at it. Used JB Drip of Norman - he was able to run a liner pipe through the bad run. Nice neat job, very limited collateral damage.

Now I am reallly mad at the varmints!!

How did it first become apparent that there was a leak?

In my case it was a room full of wet carpet.

I'm surprised you had plastic (pvc?) under the slab 19 years ago. I would have thought it was all copper back then.
