I hope they go through with this. That would be cool and as long as Weis is in charge, my money is on Tulsa. Hell, just out of loyalty, I'd put my money on Tulsa anyways :D

Tulsa's 2010 schedule appears that it could include a stop at one of college football's nostalgic venues.

TU is in negotiations with Notre Dame for a late October football game at South Bend, Ind.

"The two universities are in discussions to play football in the 2010 season," said Don Tomkalski, TU associate athletic director for communications. "No contract has been signed."

Notre Dame, coached by Charlie Weis, went 7-6 in 2008. All of its home games are nationally televised on NBC.

Tulsa's 2010 schedule currently includes a road game at Oklahoma State and a home contest against Louisiana-Monroe. The scheduling strategy under third-year coach Todd Graham typically also includes a home game against a Division I-AA opponent.

TU has a link to the Irish. Current athletic director Bubba Cunningham is a Notre Dame graduate and worked 15 years at his alma mater's athletics department. He was an associate director of athletics for external affairs (2000-02) and associate director for finance and facilities (1995-2000).

But we don't get them until 20--what... 2017?

Oh, yeah... conflicting schedules, right?

Doesn't ND owe us a home game from 1999? Or did we just get screwed on that one?

no they dont

step is correct - they bought it out instead, so they owe us nothing... as per the contracts.

as per the football gods, they owe us a rematch or they'll be doomed to charlie weis for the rest of charlie's life... which may not be that long, but it could be.

I'll lose some respect for Tulsa if they start opting for a soft schedule like this.

I think "giddy" is the exact term. :D I'm just a little disappointed that by the time we get to South Bend, the novelty of an "underdog" knocking the Irish off under the disbelieving gaze of Field Goal Jesus will be long gone.

TU is at that "mid-major everyone wants to televise, just not on Saturdays" point that the entire WAC was at a couple of years ago. Thanks to the non-traditional scheduling, I can actually go to every OU home game AND every Tulsa home game, except for Halloween when both teams are at home in the afternooon.

2012 (Norman) & 2013 (South Bend)

Also, the '99 game was a one game set (OU got $1 million for the trip), w/ an agreement for a future home & home. There was never a return game for the '99 game itself.
