It'd take me all night to come up with a ten-best original soundtracks response.

Hmmm.

Dark Knight would be in there.
Return of the King
The Goonies
The Red Violin
John Williams (take your pick - Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Close Encounters, etc. etc. etc.)
Ben Hur? Probably

Let me think about it. I've got a Harry Potter movie to go see. Can't let :dean: take the good seats. ;)

West Side Story is the soundtrack to the 1961 film West Side Story. Released in 1961, the soundtrack spent 54 weeks at #1 on Billboard's album charts, giving it the longest run at #1 of any album in history,[1] although some lists instead credit Michael Jackson's Thriller, on the grounds that West Side Story was listed on a chart for stereo albums only at a time when many albums were recorded in mono.[2] In 1961, it won a Grammy award for "Best Sound Track Album – Original Cast". In the United States, it was the best-selling album of the 1960s,[3] certifying three times platinum by the RIAA on November 21, 1986.

All tracks by Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim. Vocal performers listed parenthetically after song title.

1. "Overture" – 4:39
2. "Prologue" – 6:37
3. "Jet Song" (Tucker Smith, Jets) – 2:06
4. "Something's Coming" (Jim Bryant) – 2:32
5. "Dance at the Gym" (Blues, Promenade, Mambo, Pas de Deux, film dialogue, and Jump) – 9:24[10]
6. "Maria" (Bryant) – 2:34
7. "America" (Rita Moreno, George Chakiris, Sharks & Girls) – 4:59
8. "Tonight" (Jim Bryant, Marni Nixon) – 5:43
9. "Gee, Officer Krupke" (Russ Tamblyn, Jets) – 4:14
10. "Intermission" – 1:30[11]
11. "I Feel Pretty" (Nixon, Yvonne Othon, Suzie Kaye) – 3:35

Heavy Metal was a really good soundtrack, yet it didn't live up to it's title. Which is sorta weird.
Glory Road did have a really nice soundtrack and I second Repo Man, Pump Up the Volume, and High Fidelity. Throw Singles in for that matter, altho the grunge thing went full tilt due to it.
Magical Mystery Tour was cool, but I'll always like Help! better.

You guys need to start a separate thread for original score/soundtracks. This is too confusing.
