Well done. Michael Mann (who burst into national prominence with TV's wildly popular "Miami Vice") is a great crime genre director. Depp is a pro who, as usual, turned in a very solid performance.
I must say however, to me it was a remake of the 1973 "Dillinger" flick -- much of which was shot in Southern Oklahoma. linky:

Darker, more complex, but a remake nevertheless.
I give "Public Enemy" three shotguns out of four. Not a must see, but definitely worth seeing it in theaters versus waiting on video.
