So any of you yahoo's out of work like me? I have been out of work for around 6 weeks. Job hunting is hard, even in Oklahoma City.

I worked for the cable company for almost 8 years, the last almost 3 as a supervisor. I left to go to CHK and that was a mistake, I got laid off as a contractor in Feb and I have been doing piecemeal stuff until the last couple of months.

I am thinking of a vocation change. The last 10 years have been IT/Tech support stuff. Right now anything sounds good.

My wife is still unemployed...and I hope that the resident guy who still works at that company is reading this:
I don't need to sue your sorry asses, even though you've given me and the wife all the evidence we need to take you down. God will give you the justice you so richly deserve.

Can you tell I'm still mad?

Sorry to hear about that Adonis.

I feel thankful every day I have a somewhat stable job. Hope you can find one ASAP and get into something that makes you happy.

Thankfully this part of the country isn't being hit as hard as the blue states seem to be.

Sounds like this is the type of place I need to be. I graduate from OU and I can't find any work. I know that a lot of people in the recent graduating class from OU aren't getting any jobs, either.

D00d,

This has been up a while. I bet its not hard and it includes full state bennies. Plus, if they hire you, you'd practically have to crap on someones desk and rub their face in it to get fired. Being a state gig and all. Just sayin'

This is why it is important not to just talk about it on a message board with somewhat anonymity. If you are seeking a job, tell your friends, family, colleagues, dentist, hairdresser, etc.

Good luck, guys.

Some things are picking up, we have 4 new people starting over the next month. Two in Austin and two in San Antonio, not sure if the Indy office has done any but I don't think so. The San Antonio market has really picked up earlier than Austin.

Good luck to those who are looking.

Thanks guys. This is the longest I have been unemployed in 12 years.

my super sweet gig as an adjunct prof at the U of Colorado and Denver University is being budgeted out because of "the economy" since the tenured faculty were supposed to retire in the early 00's but 9/11 and the now economy has made big hits to their portfolios so the baby boomer jerkoffs won't retire and bleed the system for all it's worth....teaching two classes a year with full bennies. they drain the budgets but don't work any harder.

so, i'll be job hunting mahself year after next. i feel your pain Adonis.

Don't worry, guys. King Obama has proclaimed that unemployment will not go over 8% if his trillion dollar stimulus is passed. We just need those dumbasses in Congress to vote 'yea' before they even read the f***ing thing, less the economy completely collapses.

Evidently the bond market believes that. I can't believe those dumbarses are buying into the largest ponzi scheme in the history of mankind. Especially on the long end.

CHK sucks. I worked there as well. I hate the place. It's similar to a cult. A cult full of slave drivers. I don't see them lasting. I hope they do, but it doesn't look promising. They owe a lot of money.

It's going to get worse before it gets better.

July 2 (Bloomberg) -- Employers in the U.S. cut 467,000 jobs in June, the unemployment rate rose and hourly earnings stagnated, offering little evidence the Obama administration’s stimulus package is shoring up the labor market.

The payroll decline was more than forecast and followed a 322,000 drop in May, according to Labor Department figures released today in Washington. The jobless rate jumped to 9.5 percent, the highest since August 1983, from 9.4 percent.

Unemployment is projected to keep rising for the rest of the year just as the income boost from the stimulus package fades, undermining prospects for a sustained rebound in household purchases, analysts said. As companies from General Motors Corp. to Kimberly-Clark Corp. cut costs, the lack of jobs will restrain growth.

So the current unemployment crisis should be placed at the feet of Obama? It's all his fault, and no one else?

So the current unemployment crisis should be placed at the feet of Obama? It's all his fault, and no one else?

I never said that.

The current crisis is a result of too much debt minus the ability to pay it back ( National debt, state debt, municipal debt, family debt, individual debt. )

I just happen to think Obama is making all of the wrong moves and making things much worse.

Bankruptcy and foreclosure was the answer...not propping up a bunch of loser banks and borrowers with the productive people's money.

But feel free to disagree. We still have that freedom, I think.

adoniijahsooner
7/3/2009, 07:18 AM
No you dont have the freedom to disagree with Obama. He is a beacon of love and hope. a light that shines out into the vast wasteland that is America, to guide and protect us from ourselves. He wants us to lick his fingers of unity, and taste how it feels to blend together and put aside our beliefs and religion, so that we may follow a path he has charted for us....just kidding. I dont trust him either, but I believe no one knows what will work until its tried.

I'm dealing with a mixed bag. While I am still employeed, one of my sons lost his job and has moved back home. He just started a contract with general dynamics in Beaumont for 6 weeks. At the same time my wife had to quit her job so she could take care of my 90 y/o mom. We moved my mom here 6months ago and the strain of it is killing my wife. I've already hired a temp to help my wife care for my mother and may soon have to put mom in a nursing home.

I would expect more people to start having extended families under the same roof - not boomerang generation stuff, mind you - just more people working together, helping each other in the household to keep spirits up, bills split, etc.

I didn't work in field IT but I did work in IT. I worked in IT Security.

I have some friends I've known a long time that still work there. A lot of the Fleming and Kerr-McGee folks ended up at CHK and I worked at both those places so I knew some people before I got on.
