for me, and i will say the first Compact Disc (tm) i ever heard was Best of the Doobies at Gramophone in Norman (Campus Corner location, RIP). It sounded awesome. i plunked down my hard earned summer job money right then and there for a Yamaha demo they were selling on the cheap. good times.

1. Long Train Runnin'
2. China Grove

I like Black Water too. I saw them July 4th, 1977 when Skunk Baxter was playing with them. The one thing I remember about that concert was a buddy of mine toking on a roach, it came loose from his fingers and I watched the little red orb arc and then disappear down the back of his throat...I didn't know whose guts would end up on the floor first, his from coughing or mine from laughing.

I was surprised, after 911, to see Jeff "Skunk" Baxter on some of the news channels discussing security and defense issues. Last I heard he was chairing some congressional committee.

Fer me it's Black Water mainly because I was still in the Navy back in those days when that song came out in '74 and there was a place on base where we shot pool in called the barn and they had a kick *** stereo system blasting music and that ole barn had some great acoustics.

And everytime they played that song for some reason I could get in a groove and shoot pool pretty good.

Then they would blast a Captain and Tennille song and the groove turned into a black hole:O

But LTR is a tune that just irriates me. Michael McDonald sang Takin' It to the Streets while with the DBro's which I like a lot, but then again MD is a great singer even still to this day.

Muskrat Love was true piece of **** and maybe the worst song to ever hit the radio. Thats the only way to "blast" a Captain and Tennile song.
