Prelimnary indications are that they are in a MAJOR hurry, before effective public outcry can happen.

These "preliminary indications" fly in the face of reality. The U.S. Senate does nothing in a hurry. Nothing. Listen to Harry Reid speak and tell me he's trying to beat "effective public outcry." I hear him daily and think he's trying to bore opponents to death.

I'd be surprised if it's done before the August recess.

The U.S. Senate does nothing in a hurry.This. The Senate operates under unanimous consent, something that people with even a rudimentary understanding of legislative process should understand.

My perspective on the politics of this board.

Right Winger:
He/she makes visceral noise that turns on the right but turns off the left.

He/she then Makes a Good point overshadowed by visceral noise.

He/she then continues making Visceral Noise with phrases such as, "Obama is a squanderer and Chief, the devil incarnate, etc, etc." or "You're unpatriotic if you disagree with my good point."

Left:
He/she points out Visceral Noise made by Right, hence turning on the left and turning off the right.

He/she then makes a good point overshadowed by his/her own created visceral noise.

Then he/she continues with Visceral Noise disguised with phrases such as "The other side just doesn't get it" or "It's the economy stupid!"

This cycle continues for years or even decades.

Centrist:
He/she says that both sides have good points but both sides sure ruin the power of their points by taking metaphorical craps on them with the use of false dichotomies, straw man arguments, and appealing to the emotions of their political disciples.

My final conclusion:
For an era of information and enlightenment, we seem to forget the power and wisdom attained when we attempt to transcend our biases as well as errors. In other words, knowledge does not equal wisdom.
