i guess i was just too young to care or notice but david overstreet played in the same backfield as some *ahem* stud runningbacks.

after you read this article, someone comment on this 16 year old nephew at dallas skyline...and the chances of being able to land him.

correction...apparently its his GRANDSON...

Not a big fan of the Dead Kennedys?

It's the summer, and every so often Jello has that effect on me.

David Overstreet! From Big Sandy, Texas.

Man, we stockpiled some talent back then.

There's times, looking at the kids we used to have, when I wonder how we ever lost.

I am too lazy to look and see if it is still true, but at the time Overstreet came to Oklahoma he was the number 2 all time rusher in Texas High School football. Number 1 was a guy named Ken Hall from Sugarland who played in 1957 or thereabouts.

Think about the Billy Sims, Joe Washington, Earl Campbell backs that Texas High School football produced and realize that Overstreet outgained all of them in high school. Pretty high accolades

Big Sandy had a monster football program back then, but their 1975 team was the juggernaut.

824 points for the season! (http://www.amarillo.com/stories/121405/hss_3487166.shtml)

There's times, looking at the kids we used to have, when I wonder how we ever lost. That stuff happens when you can't pass and fumble 6-7 times a game running the 'bone.

Bah, the way I see it, running the 'Bone meant you *were* a pass-happy attack.

You just waited to make every pass 'til you were just about in the grasp. While running full speed. And without looking at your receiver.

What could go wrong?

Research!

My parents were in high school when Overstreet's Big Sandy team rewrote the record books.

yeah I knew the research part and that's cool about your parents. ;)

my bro in law took me to the UNC game in Norman when we were ranked #16 and they were #6 and led by Lawrence Taylor. I vividly recall Overstreet scoring in the north endzone.

GREATNESS - I remember every snap he touched the ball and just like Greg, Joe, Billy and AD you sat on the edge of your seat waiting to here "45-40-35-30-25-20-15-10-5-TOUCHDOWN OKLAHOMA, JIMMINY CHRISTMAS!"
