It's not surprising that *Texas* ranks as the nation's leader in total athletic department revenue. But the other Big 12 member of the top ten might surprise you.
According to a study commissioned by Street & Smith SportsBusiness Journal, *Texas* and Oklahoma State rank as the top revenue producers for their athletic department.
Using information generated from the Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act forms, finding that *Texas* generated $120.3 million in the 2007-08 fiscal year for its total athletic department. Second was Ohio State at $118 million.
The other member of the top 10 from the Big 12 was Oklahoma State, which produced $88.6 million during the most recent fiscal year.
Here's the top 10 in the nation, according to the SportsBusiness Journal. Big 12 teams are in bold.
1. *Texas* - $120.3 million
2. Ohio State - $118 million
3. Florida - $106 million
4. Michigan - $99 million
5. Wisconsin - $93.5 million
6. Penn State - $91.6 million
7. Auburn - $89.3 million
8. Alabama - $88.9 million
9. Tennessee - $88.7 million
10. Oklahoma State - $88.6 million
