Well, I survived a week of camping and paintball at the world's largest paintball game (4,000 players). I had the absolute time of my life. Obviously, I have never camped for a week before and there were a couple of nights we had 60mph wind gusts and I started thinking, "What the hell am I doing here?" But, I survived the entire thing and made it back home in one piece! Here are a few pics I took.

My tent:

This is me from a sniping position I took up under a bunker in a tight little crawl space facing the road to St. Mere Eglise from the edge of Vierville that my unit (914th Grenadiers) was defending. I took out a dozen or so guys from a patrol of 2nd Rangers coming down the road before they spotted me and lit my *** up.

Here I am at a dead zone:

I had the idea several months ago to make paint grenades for D-Day so this is the Friday night/Saturday morning before the main game making paint grenades for the next day.

This is the common area. Our tents sort of circled it and we put camo netting up in the middle.

Do you know what's better than a week playing paintball? A degree, a job, and attention from normal women.

I wouldnt say a job is better, just the money. But yes, when you are 27 and still an undergrad, you might need to stop focusing on paintball weekends

Because of course you can't do any of those things AND play paintball for a few days. What on Earth was I thinking?

Well, given your track record, I think there is ample reason for skepticism.

I'd rather play paintball than go to work or school any time. Nicely played, SicEm.

Interesting. Question 1: Tank support? How does that work in paintball?

Have you checked yourself for ticks yet? Those boogers can attach on the backside of feller's nutsack and be the size of raisinettes before you'd notice.

Interesting. Question 1: Tank support? How does that work in paintball?

They're equipped with regular paintball guns. They have a 2+1 system meaning the main gun or "turret" fires a special anti-tank ammo that is blue colored and limited to 500 rounds while the other two markers are regular colored and anti-personnel rounds. The A-T rounds are the only way to shoot out other tanks and must hit a small "kill plate" on each side of the tank. AT ammo can also be used to destroy buildings by hitting a plate on each building causing everyone inside to be out.

Our tank support was pretty good though in the Valley. We had to radio them in twice and they did a hell of a job.

The ticks there were horrible, and I'm usually a magnet for the little bastards but I only found one crawling on my hand. The showers at this place were full of sulfur and evidently it helps keep them away. Or so they claim...

Uploaded some video that I took to YouTube. My camera work is pretty ****ty but nonetheless...

There are a few clips I took during the smaller mini-games and a few clips I took of us assembling for the parade.

These next two clips are of some of the 914th (including myself obviously) touring the field early in the week.

speaking of being back.....im going to go ahead and thread jack here....

im back from the land of gators and fat asssed, greedy mouses (mooses, meeces???) stayed at a hotel in gainesville...bout made me sick.

my door key didn't work so i went down to the manager to see if we could get something done. keep in mind its around 12:30 AM i have two very grumpy, and sleepy kids with an equally grumpy and tired wiff...

the very tiny manager re-programs two keys and goes with me to the elevator.

manager: welcome to gainseville.

me: thank you

manager: you look like a football player.

me: ive played a few downs.

manager: cool. you do know we are the home of the college football national champions right.

me: (non chalant agitated voice) yeh, i remember reading something about it.

manager: do you like Tim Tebow?

me: hes a good player but i could take or leave his "act"

manager: "ACT?" i've met him and he is one of the most genuine people you could meet.

me: (bored, very uncaring voice) really? cool.

manager: where are you folks from?

me: (louder, with a grumpy look) Oklahoma city

manager: i see

that was the only interaction i had with ANYONE in the state about florida or captain america.

orlando is certainly a melting pot for the world...i met people from africa....no not like african americans...like real life, running away from lions, hunting zebra...africans lol very cool. they were walking around orlando like they were in some far off frozen tundra...long sleeves the whole works.

i think there were more brits in orlando last week than were in brittain... everywhere you turned it was "ello love" etc.

jesus christmas it was hot like 90-98 degrees damn near round the clock and anywhere from 75-90% humidity by noon... we stayed at a house that had an indoor pool. when i was out being robbed by cartoon characters, i was in the pool doing my best impression of free willy. fo sho.
