Here is what I think. I based it on 2 titles in 3 years, 3 titles in 4 years, 2 titles in 5 years or a really good record within a 5 or so year span that includes 2 or more titles. 2 titles in 3 years with one season of 2 or more losses doesn't count (ex: Florida in 2007 with 4 losses but if they win it all in 2009 then they will be counted).

I discount USC's national championship in 1974. The UPI refused to rank teams on probation that year. The sooners went undefeated and were AP national champs.

I'm too lazy to look up what it's based on, but I could've sworn the Whorns had only one NC before their recent one. Someone more motivated than I am could either prove me wrong, or back me up.

I thought they won one in the period shown, for 1969. In 1970, they went 10-1, losing their bowl game. Nebbish were the AP champ that year. Their other one before that was 1963 I think.

USC has only one title since 1978 and it was in 2004. The national champion is determined by the BCS title game and LSU beat Oklahoma in 2003. They can claim an AP title all they want but you have to play in the national championship game to win the national championship.

I can accept the split titles before there was a title game.

Whorns won an outright title in 1969 and split it with Nebraska in 1970. They also won one outright in 1963 and 2005.

35 years is a long time to wait.

Sure you can win a championship without even being there... just ask Texaz.

Now... sure it doesn't count... but it's like the kid in the wizard hat. Just play along with it til he goes away.
