Anyone know a member of the OU Club of New York?

Left OK a little over a week ago, and I'm all set up in NYC...in a tiny, tiny apartment, but that fact has been offset by the ability to walk 1/2 block to the corner store/deli and buy cold 6-point beer on Sunday.

Start orientation tomorrow at the Children's Hospital of New York.

Which reminds me, don't get sick for, oh, the next month. The new interns start at the beginning of July ;-).

Will be back in OK for at least one football game. Vacation request was set around it, actually.

And I'll still be an OU student for life...the past 12 years will always count for SOMETHING...lots of people spend 12 years in college.

Anyone with a Lebowski sig gets my best wishes! Good luck and I hope you manage to catch plenty of Sooner games. When I was up there I couldn't catch hardly any of them!

Of course I was in the wasteland known as upstate NY, so I imagine you may have better luck!

Good luck with the intern year. It's a great learning experience. My first day on call as an intern was a Sunday. I walked out of the hospital to smoke ('cuz I did that back then) and saw that the doctor's parking lot was completely empty.
Scared the **** out of me. I'm the only doctor in the hospital!
You get through it and hardly anyone dies. :)
Remember the immortal words of Steve Martin:
The only time we doctors should accept death is when it's caused by our own incompetence.

The OU club is pretty solid up here. There's an accasional mixer or something like that and watch parties are usually well attended- *(anywhere from 50-120). They watch games at The Press Box in Midtown.

A coupla' random things I've seen so far:

Young dude practicing the bagpipes at the entrance to Riverside park, 15 feet from the freeway ('cause where else ya' gonna do that?)

A bunch of families on the PATH train headed back to Hoboken, NJ, at 6:30...who must be to be trading places with the 16-trying-to-look-25 girls all getting ON the PATH train to go back into Manhattan at 11:30...

A Dunkin' donuts 1/2 block from...a Dunkin' donuts. I don't live in Starbucks country.

And a TON of dogs (we brought ours, too). Little tiny NY dogs, who try to have attitude with my big dumb lab mutt. He doesn't quite get it...

In short, pretty awesome so far. And Doc, I have call...the SECOND night. There'll be more than just me, though, but I may be the only one awake...

I don't dare compare the two but I used to work as a paramedic. Scary as hell the first 25 runs alone in back.
