just joined the 300 win club..

In my opinion he will be the last person to ever win 300 games.

Only pitcher in the 300 club to defeat all 30 mlb teams. - Randy Johnson

Al Leiter might be the only other one ..?

I dont know, Jamie Moyer may pitch until he is 50, so he might get there.

As far as guys who have a chance to do it IF they stay healthy for years to come, Halladay and Zambrano are the top two names that come to mind.

And if Smoltz hadnt spent so many years as a closer, he would have gone down as the best starting pitcher in the last 30 years.

Halladay is 32 with 140 wins..... if he pitches for 8 more seasons, he will need 20 wins each season.... No Chance....

Zambrano claims he is only 28... just like every player who comes from overseas, saying they are younger than what they are.... He has 100 wins... so he needs 200 more. If he pitches 12 more seasons he will need an average of 16.666 wins a season... again no chance.

What's funny about Zambrano is i just saw on ESPN saying he wanted to retire when his contact was up, to watch his girls grow up......

The main reason why no current player will get 300 wins is because nobody pitches 7-8 innings consistently anymore.. and at least 5 days of rest in between starts.

Moyer is 47 and has 250 wins... he needs 50 more.. If he pitches 3 more seasons, he will need 16.666 wins per season... no chance.

Halladay has the best shot, if healthy.

Pitcher wins is a worthless stat anyway.

Barry Bonds is by far the best baseball player to ever live... (if you count steroids)

Only player with 500+ Homeruns, 500+ steals... nobody in MLB history is even 400/400..

Single season homerun record.
Career homerun record.

8 Gold Gloves

7 MVPs

12 time all star

Today's pitchers are a bunch of pansies; pitching in 5 man rotations and being limited on their pitch counts yet they still can't stay healthy

If he could have just stayed healthy, that would read Ken Griffey, JR instead of Barry Bonds, and you wouldnt have to mention steroids.

If Griffey wouldn't have ever had those injuries he would probably be around 820-835 in Homeruns, which is pretty sick!

whats funny is how everyone just dismisses Griffey as a player who would have ever taken PEDs. I love Griffey, Love watching him play and he was actually my fav player til the Cards got Pujols, but it is surprising to me that with all the questions surrounding PEDs that Griffeys injuries were never linked to them

As far as anyone else winning 300, here are the possibilities IMO if you consider all of them playing til they are 40 and no injuries

Matt Cain- 24 yrs old, 37 wins. 16.4 wins per year

Cole Hamels- 25 years old, 42 wins. 19 wins a year

Felix Hernandez- 23 years old, 44 wins. 15 wins per year

Justin Verlander- 26 years old, 52 wins. 17.7 wins a year

Sabathia- 28 years old, 122 wins. 14.8 wins a year

Beckett- 95 wins, 29 years old. 18.6 wins a year

Peavy- 91 wins, 28 years old. 17.4 wins a year

Even with that list, Sabathia seems to be the only one who has a legit shot. I would have to go to the really young pitchers to find anyone else with a shot. It does appear that it wont happen for a while

Roy Halliday has the best shot at it.

The guy has been a 17-20 game winner on some mediocre Blue Jay squads.

more power too him, I think there is just as much chance that Zambrano stabs someone with a bat as there is him throwing a complete game shutout

Cubs need to get some foam padding for that Gatorade machine, that's for sure.
