Here is a #79 story-

OU wins big against North Texas in opener: Sam Bradford's debut as Oklahoma's starting quarterback couldn't have looked much better if he had scripted it himself. In his first start, the redshirt freshman tied a record set by one Heisman Trophy winner and broke another set by a Heisman runner-up, throwing for 363 yards and three touchdowns as the No. 8 Sooners beat North Texas 79-10 Saturday night. "This really is what you dream about, coming out here and playing in front of 85,000 and getting a win like that," Bradford said. "There's not going to be many nights like this. You've got to take these. These are special." Freshman DeMarco Murray became the first Oklahoma player to score five touchdowns in his debut, and the Sooners showed no signs of a hangover following a stunning overtime loss to Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl and the loss of star tailback Adrian Peterson to the NFL.

Just a little inside story about me....

I came home from Iraq that weekend. My wife and new 3-month old baby girl came down to Georgia and we stayed in Savannah while I was out-processing from the Army. I told Mrs. MiccoMacey that I really wanted to watch the OU-Bama game on TV (priorities, my man...priorities).

We watched that game in our hotel room, and when Michael Thompson caught that ball, I nearly cried. It was, and still is, one of my all-time Sooner moments.

Coming back and even making the team after his car crash the previous Spring is nothing short of miraculous.

I think back to what he could have been...he and Derrick Strait as our CBs for four years...we may never have had a completed pass against us in 2003.

If yer a n00b, The above pic is of him with his younger brother (cousin?). He decided to give up football early so that he could take care of him, earning him recognition not just from the media, but also the NCAA, which gave him a nice scholly so even though he wasn't playing fooseball anymore, he could continue his education.

He is a perfect choice for today and a Sooner 4 Life! :D

Interestingly...according to SoonerStats, Sammy B's dad wore #64 during his freshman year. Would've LOVED to find a picture of that.

Apparently YOUR Internet search skills are not as astute as MY Internet search skills, because I found a picture of Sam Bradford... I mean, KENT Bradford right away wearing the No. 64 jersey that I had no idea about until you mentioned it in your previous post!

Sam looks JUST like his dad, doesn't he? Everything except the jersey... he played quarterback, right? Of COURSE he did! Heisman quarterbacks are only born from quarterback fathers!

Yup... that's Kent all right. Right!

What annoyed me about that game was the fact that we were still playing our starters after halftime. After a mad dash to my car during halftime, in an attempt to stay dry (which failed miserably), I remember listening to the start of the second half on the way home. When I heard Bob Barry say "Bradford hands off to Murray", I about had an aneurysm.

Something a little bit different today...more a focus on the team than the individual, as has been the norm. With the 1956 Sooners, the whole was greater than the sum of its parts anyway. This is probably one of the two greatest Sooner teams to ever don crimson and cream.

http://img33.imageshack.us/img33/6168/56sooners.jpg

So here's the undefeated 1956 National Championship Sooners (Bob Scott, Dennit Morris, Byron Searcy, an unidentified trainer/assistant coach, Ed Gray, and Benton Ladd) carrying Bud Wilkinson off the field at Notre Dame Stadium after the October 27th pummeling of the Fighting Irish. The only time we've ever beaten them. Victory 35 of 47 Straight.

School record for points scored in a half, 55. After leaving that game I was in a mix awe and disgust. I liked the fact that we could score in droves as we did in the first half. I didn't like that our D looked lost at times in the first half, but they also had something like 4 or 5 interceptions. In the second half our offense went from awesome to not being able to do anything at all.

The problem early in that game was it was Box's first time out there as MLB. He was pretty confused at first, but finally settled in. On top of that their QB was having a crazy accurate day. He was throwing 70 yards on the run and hitting the guy on the money.

1/3 of Switzer's "Pop Warner" backfield, and quite possibly the fastest player to ever play for the Sooners.

Badger-- Yes there is, its called 'ABILITY' and I do not have it. I do appreciate you guys who do have the ability to do this sort of thing. Thanks for doing it for me and the otheres who are like me, 'computer challeged'.;)

Well then, allow me to teach you :D

(1) Find a pic. I suggest Google. Type in anything, like "Tommy McDonald" and then hit "Images" to search for Tommy pictures.

(2) Right click the pic, then hit "View Image."

(3) The location that you are redirected to? Copy that location! It'll be something like http://espn.com/tommymcdonaldsawesomepicture.jpg

(4) Come back to sf.com and type before the link that you copied, then paste the link text here.

(5) Type [ /img] after the image, So that it reads something like [ img]http://espn.com/tommymcdonaldsawesomepicture.jpg

(6) I should mention that I added a space before/after the bracket so you could see the text instead of having it switch to code. NO SPACES in [ i m g ] or [ / i m g ] to make it work!

(7) Post your awesomeness for all of Sooner Nation to see.

Seven steps... one for each of our awesome national championships :D

The thing about Little Joes return against USC is that he was caught from behind. The three blockers available to stop the ultimate tackler were turned around watching Joe run. Can't say I blame them. I would have turned to watch too. The most exciting runner in college football ever. Perhaps not the best, but the most exciting.

Was at Sooner Mall tonight with a friend and we moseyed into Jason White's Store UN-divided. They had a football signed by Joe Washington and Greg Pruitt. If any of you lovely people would like to get me a Christmas present...you know where to go now.

That run against Missouri is an all-timer. The safety he outran was a track star.

I've got a painting in my "man cave" of the run against Texas in '82.

I'm not sure we've ever had a more talented running back on campus than Dupree. And that is in no way a slap of disrespect at Sims or Peterson, but damn, just look at Dupree! He was a monster.

A REALLY fast monster.

Look at the blue duds Colorado is sporting. They're still pissed at Fairbanks up there for those things.
