They deserve it! (http://www.tulsaworld.com/sports/article.aspx?subjectid=92&articleid=20090603_298_0_IRVING469118)

I am especially proud of Ashley, who has been living in her sister's shadow for quite awhile.

Fun! Congrats to the two. What, specifically, did they do to earn the awards? I imagine Blake handling the thuggery alone would be enough, but I would be interested to see what Ashley did.

That's great...especially given the character of the other 3 before them. Pendleton with his brother situation, and (if I remember correctly) Clayton and McGruder with the time they rescued people from that car accident.

Sboro...and so on... is correct in why Clayton/McGruder/Pendleton won in the past.

AP5 won for her work with area kiddos and hospitals and shelters.

Blake won because his efforts to avoid confrontations after hard fouls did not go unnoticed - we all remember the nut punch, right? Or the flip? Or the countless other thuggery acts that happened this past season?

It was also attributed how he always credited his teammates despite all of the individual attention he was receiving for his own accomplishments.

Both are very good choice and are very deserving. I could see BG getting the national award because those exploits by opponents were well-documented throughout the tourney.

Courtney Paris and Sam Bradford would have also been worthy.

I'm also sure the "sweep" by OU athletes has already started the conspiracy theories flowing on various OSU boards. OU athletes, to them, probably only won those awards because the OKC media went "homer" and helped them, and also kept any OSU athletes from winning because they "hate OSU and want to keep OSU down..." :D

The news just keeps getting worse for the Paris family.

Six minutes, zero points and one rebound. (http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2009/06/07/SPO31829AL.DTL)

I don't follow WNBA enough to know what's good and what's not, but that doesn't appear good at all... but at least CP3 didn't get cut like sis :(
