I guess it's time for another PSA around here. I don't usually do these things because frankly, I really don't care enough to get my britches crammed up my crack.

People are whining and bitching about moderation (nothing new), and people are whining and bitching that some mods haven't answered their peems (nothing new) and some people are whining and bitching that mods are doing drive-bys after a thread has sort of semi-policed itself. People are whining and bitching about the cliques around here - this time it's the posse (nothing new).

I can probably tell you why the mods aren't answering peems. Cause they ain't here. Why ain't they here? Cause they're tired. Many have volunteered with honorable intentions, then have been worn slick by all the stupid bull**** that goes on on pretty much all message boards. Nobody knows how it's gonna wear on a person until they spend some time in the saddle.

I am not going to sit here and tell everybody they're the cause of mod burnout, mainly because nothing has changed over the years. I hear all this horse**** about "it used to be groovy back in the day" and "this board has changed and it isn't fun anymore." Guess what, it's back in the day right now for the future. People are people, and for the most part, people are stupid. It's a constant.

The only reason I'm still here is because my hide is thicker than Hillary's cankles. I care for a lot of you dillweeds - mainly because I've personally met many of you and have spent time partying, etc. with you. There's some I've never met that I have feelings for because I can tell they're stand-up kinda folks. Some of you I wouldn't **** down your neck if your belly was on fire. I've been here for a long time, and I'll probably be here for a lot longer. Deal with it, or not.

What's the point of all this? **** if I know. Alls I know is that folks need to quit being whiney bitches (again) and folks who aren't hanging out who actually contributed something to this board need to come back and enjoy themselves. Everyone isn't going to agree (doh) and we're going to have pissin' contests (doh) and everyone isn't going to like it. Kinda like life.

Just to be clear. After a year of mostly positive experience, in which I had decided to become an Elite Sponsor, I started the Hollis Board, I had a 46,000 spek rating based on real spek not betting over two season and 1500 posts, in the last four weeks I can see this board is a place I don't want to be or patronize. There are two other boards which I believe have at least equivalent basketball knowledge without the abusive environment. I am taking my business elsewhere.

Is this the appropiate time for a big :pop:

I mean, My grandfather was in the Navy toward the ending of WWII. He gained a purple heart thanks to teh germans bombing England and the shrapnel.

Anyway...My grandfather took early retirement and re-enlisted about 4 years later. Just in time to go Korea as a member of the Air Force...where he earned his second purple heart.

That being said....He was a mechanic. He did his part for this country...not just once, but twice. And both times he was close enough to battle to get wounded.

My father (RIP) has a footstone commorating his Air Force Service. He served in Vietnam. Had to shoot a gun a couple of times while there too.

He too was a mechanic.

Carrying a weapon or not 75% of the time does not mean you are not military.

I respect anyone and everyone that has served this great nation. I dont give a damn who you are or what site I am visiting. Please do not disrespect those that were not marines or soldiers!

Thanks.

**** off Dip**** mods! :P

Seriosly though...It's an honor to be called out as a member of a groups specifically formed to make fun of the dumbazz cliques around here!

In our defense we have all types and all those types are sick of the BS that happens when a political line is drawn and moreso when it seems a particular side of that line is favored. Asorted mods have taken both sides and we all get disgusted by that.

I got carded last time I said this, but I'm gonna say it again.

The biggest bitch on the mods aside from the "untimely" thread locks mentioned in the OP is the "last word mentality. I am not referring to the comments made by the locker, but rather, the asshat mods that come along a day or 2 after the thread is locked and make a "final comment" where they call someone out without a chance for "someone" to reply.

I think the mods should follow the same rules as the rest of us when posting and continuing a personal attack or continuing a thread that's assinine in general is, in itself, a violation of every rule other than the one that states that the admins have final say and if ya don't like it bye.

That rule is kinda doosh BTW...at least use some kinda qualifier beyonf we said it so it's the way it is.

Just sayin'!

Overall though, I think I'm cool here and I like the board. I'd just consider a minor bit of fine-tuning if I had a say, which I don't.

I understand how you would feel that way. Unfortunately trying to explain ourselves frequently gets pedantic in a way that makes the old LAS/Tuba flame threads seem mature and reasoned by comparison.

For example, a few months back, before the election, I put up a sticky with the intention of giving participants in political threads advance notice of what would get them carded/baned. A "qualifier," if you will.

What happened? "Oh, Veritas is on a power trip." "Well, what about this edge case if somebody does this, *then* what will you do?" "Oh, you are just biased against conservatives/liberals/Democrats/Repubs/giraffes."

Plainly speaking, there's nothing to be gained by going to great lengths to explain ourselves. I can't speak for the other mods, but I always tell people why I've done whatever, but it's an explanation (qualifier?), not an invitation to extended dialogue on why somebody else started it and they should be punished, not me, I'm the victim, you should really be focusing on so and so, blah blah blah.

Thanks.

relax there, buttmint...i think you know im one of the biggest defenders of ANY type of military service. just a lil inner service rivalry....

ie..."you're in the infantry because you're too stupid to drive."

"you're in the Air force because American Airlines doesn't employ felons."

"you're a marine because people with low IQs are easily brain washed"

Maybe when you're 15 and driving a 2 ton flat bead with a side loader and you've been challenged to see how fast you can get it loaded . . . or riding on the top of a truck loaded down with peanut hay . . . at midnight.

Ahhhh the memories . . .

Yes, hauling hay in this weather is not for the faint of heart.

The one I'm kinda feeling sorry for here is Mrs. Dean. She's driving the open cab tractor (with no shade) pulling the hay rake. I'm in the 7230 John Deere with cab/air/CD/air ride seat baling. Every time I pass her in the field and the big ol' cloud of dirt and dust and grass I'm kicking up envelopes her like a swarm of bees and she lifts up her shirt to cover her face but shows me a little titty accidently it always brings a smile to my face. That woman is one tough hombrette. She doesn't know it yet, but I'm going to lease her a cab tractor tomorrow for the next couple weeks. I figure it's the least I can do so she can cool off before getting out and loading bales onto the trailer. We put up several thousand square bales, and momma and I pretty much touch every single one of them at least twice. We do a lowboy trailer with 100 at a time - from the field to the barn. Gives us a little break.

We also put up over 500 round bales over the past week+, and have another 1000 or so to cut and bale yet. I ain't complaining though. Life is good.

Collier11

Fun is in the eye of the beholder. I'd rather bale and load hay than lay on my fat *** and play video games. Why? Cause it pays a whole hell of a lot better.

Besides, when cutting hay I get all kinds of cheap entertainment. Nothing beats watching the hawks come in and nailing the mice/rats/rabbits/snakes that I disturb when they run across the cut hay. Or the buzzards coming in to clean up the critters the mower slices and dices. Or getting to shoot the coyotes that follow the mowing tractor all around the field picking up their morsels. Or seeing rats and mice go sailing past your windshield or bouncing off the cab when the mower heads hit them. Good ****ing times.

stoops the eternal pimp
6/23/2009, 02:14 PM

We put up several thousand square bales, and momma and I pretty much touch every single one of them at least twice. We do a lowboy trailer with 100 at a time - from the field to the barn. Gives us a little break.

We also put up over 500 round bales over the past week+, and have another 1000 or so to cut and bale yet. I ain't complaining though. Life is good.

I'll probably get into some of that next week during my summer US trip. Typically, they put me mowing on one of the older tractors with just a sun shade. My sister typically rakes and my brother runs the round bailer. Gee, it is almost like we have been doing that for 40 years already. We actually have. Back then it was all square hay and I have done more hauling of the stuff than I care to ever mention.

So, we have had plenty of rain this year?

And, life is indeed good.

We had plenty of rain in the spring. There's a very decent first cutting - excellent in some spots. We sprayed and fertilized just right, and we're doing very well.

It's dryer than a popcorn fart now though. And hotter than a french whore's **** on Saturday night. I'm hoping the rain holds off another couple weeks. Once I get all my hay up, let it rain.

You are probably right, id much rather be doing what yer doing right now than sitting in my little office calling clients and and dealing with work related stuff

Deano? how do you post and drive a tractor at the same time? Those new John Deere's must be awesome! :D I used to love cutting hay and brush hogging but hauling it was pretty tough.

No doubt. If I was smart, I'd just go ahead and sell her off to the highest bidder right now and retire. But then who would do all the cookin' cleanin' rakin' sexin' and tailgatin'?? I'd be stuck bedding down with some average "modern" woman who thinks that just because she went to work today too means she doesn't need to provide for her man. How much would that suck? I think I'll keep her and die happy and poor...

Well, thanks Scott. I'm pretty sure Nope is willing to pay anyone to take me at the moment and I'm 100% sure that Dean would not give all of the nasal flem in his public shower stall for me.

I'm pretty much open to anyone else, though. I work. I can drive a tractor. I can haul hay, but I drink a lot too.

I enjoyed hauling hay....it was the only time my family did something together..well that and cutting fire wood...the hay field is the first place I drove a truck..and few minutes later wrecked a truck

It was the first place I stuck a huge wad of Union Standard in my jaw. 140 degrees in the barn, locked in a dusty corner of the tin roof, I pretty sure sure I had a religulous experience.

And he's right, I was a passenger. **********s dumped our asses in the Chagres River in Panama instead of Gatun DZ, flew us 6 hours over the Atlantic and then turned around and we jumped within 10 miles of where we took off, etc. ****ing Air Force...

I remember a zodiac boat trip down the Chagres about 3 am quite a few years back.

There was sharks in that river. Lots of sharks.
