Liggins was one of my favorites. In the bowl matchup against Tennessee's All American Center Bob Johnson, much of the pre game hype was about that matchiup. Tennessee won the toss and elected to receive. First play from scrimmage, the Vols broke the huddle, and as they came to the line, Liggins was already in a four point stance. Johnson looked across and said, "Hello Granny". Liggins said nothing.

When the ball was snapped, Liggins used a forearm to rock Johnson back, moved around him and made the tackle for a loss. As he turned and extended a hand to help Johnson get up, he said, "Oh hi Bob, I didn't see you there".

HEH!

Granny's knee injury put Norman in a funk for months.

I was 6-7 years old and thought he hurt his knee because "Granny" was old.
