when do apricots get ripe ?
Ive gotta tree i planted 5 yrs ago and this is the 1st year its produced
aint got but about 20 or so but dayum it I want em .

The short answer is when they turn from green to yellow.

Depends on the variety. Here in the San Joaquin Valley, the main harvest is late-May to mid-July. Might be later in Poteau if you have late freezes. We usually don't get a freeze past February.

I recall last year the priest asked for a special collection for the migrant workers because there was an unusually late harvest and the workers had to sit around waiting with no work and no paycheck.

I noticed in the grocery store that fresh apricots were selling for $3.99/lb - telling me the main California harvest is yet to come. We produce 90% of the crop in the U.S. - mostly centered around Patterson Ca -who claims to be the Apricot Capitol of the World. They are holding the Apricot Fiesta this weekend.
