Is the day Summer Camp starts.... heard it from a couple of players...

Does that seem early???

Or is it always like that?

Or is that when "voluntary" workouts start....

June 8th is the day in 1974 when Tulsa got hammered by tornados.

I am pretty sure summer camp - as in not voluntary - starts in August.

June 8th is the day in 1974 when Tulsa got hammered by tornados.

I was 16 at the time and any time I hear June 8th, that is what I think of.
We still call them the June 8th storms. That waws a hell of a day in Tulsa. I was at a friend's wedding that afternoon and barely made it home because of the street flooding.
I don't remember the exact date, but 1-1/2 years later in December 1975, we also had wild tornado storms. Unusual for so late in the year.

so it looks like June 8th is the first day players can report for summer camp? Is this voluntary? I know saxet returns June 8th also...

I hope nobody does anything stupid this weekend.

It makes sense that this is the first day to report for camp. It is also the first day of the June summer semester, I think that may have something to do with it too.

ha, yeah my parents still talk about june 8th as well. I was still two years away but my dad and his best friend (married to my aunt) were trying to walk home to their wives after being at a bar earlier that day. My aunt was preggo with my cousin at the time and her and my mom were in their bathroom in the tub with a mattress on top of them.

They said it was crazy that day.

I'm glad we're getting closer to football. I'm really getting bored with tiddlywinks.

This is all voluntary, however the coaches expect you to be there to start work outs.

It cannot become mandatory until August.

It was the 5th of December I was doing royal ranger camping. Lived out by East Central and came back to just the thrown left. Good thing my parents rented.
June 8 got flooded out of the apartment there by the trafic circle

June 8, 1966, is the big day for weather historians. Monstrous F5 ripped through Topeka, Kansas.
