you can't shoot trespassers. Especially 7 year-olds.

This is from yesterday, May 9.

HOUSTON - A 7-year-old boy who was allegedly shot in the head by a couple who thought he and three other people were trespassing on their property died Saturday, authorities said.

Donald Coffey Jr. died Saturday morning at a Houston hospital, less than two days after the boy was struck in the head by shotgun pellets, Liberty County Sheriff's Cpl. Hugh Bishop said.

Sheila Muhs and her husband, Gayle Muhs, both 45, were charged with second-degree felony counts of aggravated assault in the shootings Thursday.

They were being held at Liberty County Jail with bail set at $25,000 each and had not yet retained an attorney, Bishop said.

Bishop said the district attorney could upgrade the charges to murder on Monday, but investigators were "still trying to get the circumstances behind the incident."

The boy, his 5-year-old sister, their father and a family friend were off-roading near a residential area about 40 miles northeast of Houston when they were shot after stopping so the children could go to the bathroom.
Authorities said the couple fired after they mistakenly thought the group was trespassing on their property.

Bishop said the area includes a dirt road, trees and overgrown brush and that it wasn't uncommon for people to go off-roading there. The Houston Chronicle reported that a sign in front of the suspects' home reads: "Trespassers will be shot. Survivers will be reshot!! Smile I will."

Liberty County Chief Deputy Ken DeFoor said Sheila Muhs fired a 12-gauge shotgun once, then handed it to her husband, who also fired once.

DeFoor said Sheila Muhs then called 911 and told the dispatcher: "They're out here tearing up the levee, so I shot them."

DeFoor said the levee belonged to the subdivision and was not private property.

Bishop said there was no indication the unarmed victims did anything threatening toward the Muhs.

Donald Coffey Sr. suffered a pellet wound in his right shoulder and his daughter, Destiny, suffered a wound to the elbow. The family friend, 30-year-old Patrick Cam*Mack*, was in serious condition Saturday with a head wound, Memorial Hermann-*Texas* Medical Center spokeswoman Alex Rodriguez said.

Those people are only 45? Hell, my wife is 44, and those folks look like they could be her parents.

And these people should rot. If you're close enough to kill somebody with a shotgun, you're close enough to see they're little kids.

Depends. You need to at least make some folks think they're gonna get shot sometimes. A quick story:

When I bought my place the very first thing I did was put up some deer stands. Even before I replaced the carpet or painted the walls in the house. Anyhow, I'm out deer hunting, and I see way out across the pasture a couple of guys dragging a deer stand across the pasture. I think "hey, WTF are those guys doing on my property, and isn't that one of my deer stands?"

So, I jump on the 4-wheeler, and haul *** over there. They didn't see/hear me until I was within about 100 feet of them, and I was coming fast. These guys are maybe 19-20 years old, and they drop the stand just about the time I swung the 7mm off the gun mount and pointed at them. I stop, and say "wtf are you guys doing?" They both look like they're fixin to **** a brick and one of them goes "moving our deer stand." I go "bull****, that's my stand, this is my land, and you're stealing the stand." Dudes goes "we didn't know anybody owned this place." I go "well that doesn't excuse stealing my stand." He goes "please don't shoot us mister." I go "here's the deal. I bought this whole side of the section - from Buckhead Creek to Flat Armadillo Road, to Old Dog Road, to Turkey Creek. I hunt it, and I will shoot the next person I see over here hunting or stealing my ****." He goes "OK, are you gonna call the cops?" I go "nope, you boys carry the stand right back where you got it, set it back up, and tell all your buddies I bought this place and there's no hunting, fishing, and especially stealing over here. If I catch them, I will shoot them." They go "thank you sir, thank you sir."

I followed them back into the woods, made sure they set my stand just right, and followed them off the property. That was 7 years ago. I haven't seen a single footprint, a cut fence, a horse print, or have had anything come up missing since.

Would I actually shoot one of them? It would depend I suppose. They'd have to either be armed and trying to hurt me or mine, or they'd have to be stealing something and not stopping when I told them to I guess. Hopefully I'll never have to find out.

If so, I think this had very little to do with "trespassing."

Hell, everybody knows black people don't ride 4 wheelers, and they sure as hell don't hang out with their kids.

heh. Come to Houston, they ride them all the time. However, you were right, they weren't black. Apparently these people aren't racist POS's, just regular POS's.

Here's the little boy that got killed:

Big news here in Houston. Lady fired once and then handed the shot gun over to her husband who fired once more - all the while the car occupants were screaming don't shoot we have children in the car... Supposed to announce next week whether the charges will be upgraded to murder.

The family saved 3 children as they donated his organs...

They knew the Muhs' and actually 4-wheeled with their child in the area previously.

Uhhh...typing while your falling asleep isn't a good idea...screwing = screaming...

One of them will get the needle. I'm curious which one will roll and claim the other fired the fatal round. Interesting story in the Chron today -- Mr. Coffey went to check on the Muhs' own kids, to see that they were not getting grief at school over their parents' actions. People never cease to amaze/shock me.

Well, they don't look like they're economically independent and self-sufficient. I'd say they're sucking off the government tit, one way or the other. That would kind of narrow it down.

Having guns means nothing so far as party affiliation.

I'd say they're on crank, and don't give a sh*t who's in office, but you just never know...maybe they're strong pro-life Christians and believe in Reagan style 'trickle-down' economics, or they could believe in Obama style trickle up misery. Who knows.

Maybe they don't like black people, yet they are socialist, which would make them national socialists, yet still trigger happy for young white boys who drive atv's on they're property.

Hey wait, they believe in property rights. They're republicans.
