Wow, I didn't know until I saw your thread. I didn't even know he was sick. That sucks.

Danny Gans yesterday, and Jack Kemp today; two very respectable men. RIP

Yah...the part of Danny Gans's passing was that Carolyn and I were planning on going to see him when I get back from deployment...just like we were going to get tickets to see George Carlin out there last year...then he passed.

I'm starting to notice a pattern...maybe we should make plans to see Carrot Top...

Kemp was a straight up encourage, not regulate free markets guy (the role of government). too bad his grand old party has become the whiners and Limbaughs of the world.

well the funny thing about that is that Kemp used to fill in for Limbaugh back in the 90's.

I happen to be Republican, but even if I wasn't, I've seen how much it can take out of a person to go through a presidential election like Jack Kemp did back in 1996 with Bob Dole. The fact that he stepped up at a time when Bill Clinton was virtually assured of re-election and also knowing that he wasn't the first choice for veep (Colin Powell, anyone?) made it even more admirable that he would put himself through a campaign like that.

So, as said, RIP, Jack :)
