70 points in 5 games this year be a goal for the offense?

I mean we did score 60 in 5 straight. So why not shoot for 70 in 5 in 2009?

i think the goal for the offense in 2009, is to score more than the opposing team in every game. if they happen to score 70, that will be fine.

Well, the defense needs to help with that part.

However, I think our defense in 2009 will rival that of 2000 or 2003.

What worries me is that last year's OSU game was a precursor for this year.....those dang tools announcing the game practically proclaimed the game a loss for us if we didn't score the 60. I'm worried about the coaches' vote getting skewed if we don't live up to mega-score outings.

There's no way OU will average more ppg than last year without the same porous defense.

That game we only scored 14 erased all that other crap.

Personally I hope we score 70 in all of them. But I'll be happy with bigger spreads than last year regardless of what we score.

I said last year that Sam's numbers would be down from his freshman year. I was WRONG.

So I'll say it again, Sam's numbers will be down from his Sophomore year...............;)

I don't really care how many points we score as long as we win the game.

If we win every game 3-2, the trophy's the same.

That being said, seeing 77-0 again would be FU**ING AWESOME.

Yeah there is. Offensive scoring does not indicate what a defense will do!

He's half right 75. For us to put up bigger numbers on offense than last year we either have to let them score practically unopposed every possession and answer every time or have a stiff enough D that we get the ball back fast.

I'll take the second option.

I mean sure, we could look like Taco Tech when it comes to defense.

But we can also score a ton of points (not saying 70+ a game) with a very stout defense.

2003 we scored a ton of points and had a very stingy defense.

I'd be fine with something less than 54.0 ppg averaged by the offense if the defense gave up fewer than the 24.6 ppg it did in 2008 . . .
